About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life and to learn from people's stories.

ABOUT ME

I am a passionate person who is curious about the world and inspired to learn from different cultures and people.

Among other things, I enjoy live music, dancing all night, coffee shop sitting, nature, fashion, art exhibits, yoga, books, and above all, experiencing new things. I get along easily with most people and try to bare my heart and emotions honestly.

I recently started a personal blog where I think you can really gain a sense of who I am. Please take a look if you want to learn more about my personality and philosophy: www.elizabethsensky.com

PHILOSOPHY

The golden rule is always a great thing to go by. I believe you get back what you put out in the world.I want to give love as much as I receive it. What goes around comes around..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couch surfed twice during my travels in Amsterdam, and now I'm ready again to get on the road and meet new people with my boyfriend, Fatih..we will be gone during the month of January traveling Turkey, Cyprus and maybe Israel!

We currently live in Amsterdam and are also accepting guests again. :)

Interests

I am passionate about music, fashion, yoga, writing, psychology and so many other things. You can often find me internet surfing with a minimum of 10 different tabs open on my browser (damn embedded links!). I am a lover of Ted Talks and NPR.I will also bake you a mean batch of cookies.

An engaging conversation with friends always grabs my attention and stretches my mind. I strongly believe in natural wellness and preserving our environment. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in fashion merchandising in May of 2013. Since then, I've lived in Berlin, Amsterdam and Pittsburgh and have been fortunate to have traveled to many different European countries.

Music, Movies, and Books

TOO MANY. But for an idea of my music taste:

Shakey Graves, Valerie June, Shovels & Rope, All Them Witches, Alabama Shakes, Glasser, Grizzly Bear, Father John Misty, Jack White, The Dead Weather, Santigold, The Tallest Man on Earth, The Head and the Heart, TV on the Radio, The Beatles, Radiohead, Bon Iver, The Shins, Animal Collective, Madrugada, The Strokes, The Black Keys....

Books:

I've been really into Anais Nin lately. Reading Joan Didion essays at the moment.. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, always good. Also like nonfiction reads like Sex at Dawn..fascinating.

Movies:

Again, TOO many. I love anything by Richard Linklater, recently watched Boyhood and loved every bit of it. I also love old French films (probably because I'm an American girl..) like And God Created Woman..there are many, many more but currently my mind is blank.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was lucky enough to intern in Shanghai and visit the Great Wall--breathtaking, lives up to the hype! I also spent a summer interning in New York City. Immersing myself in these new environments enriched my life in countless ways. I also visited Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria on a whirlwind trip with the family back in May of 2013! Lots of beer and good times were had with my brother. Dancing the YMCA in a German dance hall ranks up there on things I will never forget.

More recently..
I had a very memorable (and slightly terrifying) experience driving through the steep Albanian hills between Sarandë and Vlorë. Also, eating ALL the food in Istanbul and a walk through the Eyüp cemetery.

There are many stories I'm leaving out, when we meet, we can talk about these and all of yours over a drink :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn from all types of people who are happy with themselves and curious to keep learning. The hungry ones. I believe everyone has a story that I can learn from. I am being constantly inspired by strangers and friends, it's beautiful.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My baking skills!
We can do yoga! (although I am not a trained instructor by any means, just an enthusiast)
English lessons perhaps..
We can talk social media and blogging too, if you like.
