About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To wear my heart on my sleeve more often

ABOUT ME

I came back to UK recently after 2+ years of traveling, volunteering, hiking, hitchhiking around Nepal, India, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Not sure how long I will be around for but having surfed a few times, I am hoping to host for the first time soon.

I am staying with family but sometimes have the place to myself. There is a spare room with double bed. Location near to Sefton park and 10 mins from train station. Only likely to host if I feel we have things in common and you don't send a generic request. :-)

I sometimes write about my travels:

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I use/plan to use couchsurfing for meeting people socially and to surf the odd couch.

When I return home/have a place of my own again, I will host. Karma says I must.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I have made contact and come close to meeting several people through some of the travel groups, circumstances were such that our plans didn't usually work out. I have therefore only two genuine couchsurfing experiences, surfing with a Laotian, former drag queen, in the outback of Australia and hiking adventures with a sassy North Carolinian lady. Oh, and I also scored a free bus ticket from a kiwi girl in Christchurch.

Interests

Nature, art in all its myriad forms, laughing, making others laugh, sometimes moving, sometimes being still, looking at the stars, anything that makes me realise how small I am in the grand scheme of things... politics, although I don't really get involved in any way.. Oh and traveling can be fun too!

Music, Movies, and Books

Cinema - Would watch anything directed by Ken Loach, Shane Meadows, Werner Herzog, Lars Von Trier.. If you know their films you might think I am quite serious, I do like comedies too.

Music - mostly folk-rock. Currently listening to Keaton Henson, Admiral Fallow, Iron and Wine, Angus and Julia Stone... l like music that comes from the heart and induces a euphoric, uplifting feeling that anything and everything is possible!

Books - not so much recently, I accidently drowned my kindle and my backpack prefers chocolate. Been carrying Rushdie's 'Midnight's Children' for the past 6 months, hope to finish it one day...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I experienced genuine kindness from strangers, rich and poor,
I learnt I could be exhilaratingly happy alone,
I held the yoga asana vrishicksana (scorpian) for roughly 0.4 seconds,
I fell in love,
I was humbled by nature, again and again.
That's five!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm kind of a jack of all trades, master of none, so if you want to learn just a bit about most things, I should be able to help.

I would like to learn a language because of feelings of laziness, inferiority and guilt when meeting people whose first language is not English. I think Spanish would be a good choice.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Cambodia, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Fiji, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Laos, Malaysia, Malta, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
