About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Adventure, discovery, illumination!

ABOUT ME

Howdy! I am a Colorado (United States) farm kid, recently finished my PhD in mechanical engineering out in Utah. Somehow landed a Fulbright which brought me to Norrland (Sweden), in a small town called Piteå where I worked on technology for making fuel from forest waste. Did some wandering around Scandinavia and elsewhere in Europe before moving to Cambridge where I'm getting my sea legs between trips to Africa where I'm helping rural communities produce clean fuels from farm waste.

Interests

Work hard, play hard. At times I can be a work-a-haulic, but when I get a chance to take a break I really take advantage of the situation. I love being active outside, anything from rock-climbing to kayaking to ski mountaineering to horseback riding. I also love culture, music, museums, nights at the pub, sports matches and really, whatever the locals are into. Very flexible, "go with the flow".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably my most interesting life experience was visiting Israel and Palestine. It was a chance for me to see a completely new culture, and to observe in real-life a difficult conflict that is at the center of many global issues. I spent much of my time in Palestine, and came to learn that the people there, who are stereotyped in the western media, are really just like you and I- going about their daily lives normally, and actually very open and welcoming to guests (even Americans). I hope to return there someday to see the many Israeli and Palestinian friends that I made during that trip.
