About Me

¡Hola! My name is Stephanie and I spent half of my life in Mexico and the other half in the USA, so "no soy de aqui ni soy de alla." But, I'm currently living in the Boston area and loving the summer nights.

Last month I quit my job at a startup company, and decided that I needed time to reflect and recharge before looking for the next opportunity. I'll be heading to Europe for the month of July to reconnect with friends and hopefully meet new people on the way.

In short:

- I'm a positive person who is motivated by people and their stories
- I enjoy listening to podcasts like The Moth radio hour
- keeping up with world news via NPR
- dancing the night away to live music
- time traveling in museums
- relaxing nights binge watching a streaming service
- playing a good game of Cards Against Humanity

As well as all the other things millennials love to do (hiking, exploring, eating local, etc).

MY PHILOSOPHY
I'll just share some of my favorite quotes:

“Cuéntame qué haces, procura no trabajar tantísimas horas, diviértete más, pues como se está poniendo el mundo muy pronto nos va a ir de la vil tostada, y no vale la pena irse de este mundo sin haberle dado tantito gusto a la vida”. - Frida Kahlo

“When you buy something, the instrument is money, but in reality you are buying it with the hours of your life that you spent earning that money. The greatest thing that you have is that you are alive...

I am frugal, not poor. Frugal, with a light suitcase. I live with little, just what’s necessary, not too tied down to material things. Why? So I can have more free time. To do what? What I like. Freedom is having time to live." - Pepe Mujica

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Back in 2013, I couchedsurfed while I was in Ireland and London and loved it! The year after, I found a place to live in Boston thanks to a fellow couchsurfer! :)

I love this community and I love traveling. I'm looking forward to learning more about different cultures this summer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm really bad at remembering names and songs but I enjoy a lot of different types of music. From 1920's jazz and alternative punk to rap and folk music. Currently listening to Colombian band Monsieur Periné

Movies: So many! Hotel Rwanda, City of Good, most superhero movies. My all time favorite is Pan's Labyrinth, a film by Guillermo del Toro.

Shows: Game of Thrones, Vikings, TURN, Black Mirror, Homeland

Books: It has been all startup/professional development in the past few years. I'm currently wrapping up "Lincoln on Leadership" and starting "A House of My Own" by Sandra Cisneros.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the summer of 2012, I traveled the US in a tour bus with 9 other crazy, outgoing, incredibly creative people.

I hiked down to termal waters at Copper Canyon in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach spanish and share my "abuela's" secret on how to make some green mean enchiladas.
