I am an experienced couchsurfer. I started to host and travel when I was 18 years old. I hitchhiked around Europe and America, crossed the Atlantic Ocean with a sailing boat with hitchhiking.
I runned my own hostel in Budapest for 4 years. Recently I started my hungarian street food restaurant selling lángos in Budapest.
I found my love Arlette, and we got married in 2021. She is from Ivory Coast and we settled down in Budapest.

We would like to meet interesting, funny people. We like to learn about different cultures, languages, life stories. We like to help others, to share.

I have to work a lot, ofter every day including weekends.
Note that we do not drink alcohol at home, but we are not disturbed by it. Arlette is muslim and I am catholic so we are international, interracial, interreligious couple ;)

ABOUT ME

According to the Encyclopedia here is my definiton:
#daniel.varga: Happy Hungarian travel monkey (LAETUS HUNGARICUS) also called the Jumping Paprikamonkey, regarded as a subspecies of the Bananas Palinkas (Platanos Alcoholicos) until 1993, when it was first classified separately. Daniel can be found mainly in cheap bars around Central and South Europe as well as in rivers and caves, sometimes in rural territories, also along the motorways.

Autobiography: Mr. Daniel was born in Budapest, capital city of Hungary. Papa, mama, two brothers, three sisters, house in the ghetto suburb, bicycles (stolen every second week), fresh diapers every Tuesday, church on Sunday, football every day. Schools after schools and somehow in a wrong moment I chose to study something bizarre, listen carefully: finance and accountancy.
I tried to be a film star or at least a pope or just an average person but did not managed. But the game is not over.
Finally I finished my university, I become a serious economist, then I worked as a project manager dealing with European Union research programmes, what was very cool but then I moved to France where I worked in a restaurant on the seaside, that was amazing too! Then I tried to hitchhike a boat to cross the Atlantic Ocean, when I managed to arrive to the Carribean I had to go home to my sister's wedding. Then I went to Mexico where I found happiness:) Then I got home and started a small backpacker's hostel in Budapest! That was awesome! Then I started a small street food shop with my friend, preparing traditional hungarian food called "Lángos". It is really cool, but too much hard work:DD

A few years ago I went to hitchhike around Europe, had incredible fun, visited friends, met new ones, drunk everything, jumped into rivers, kicked pigeons, brushed my teeth every day properly paying extra attention to the gumline, hard-to-reach back teeth and areas around fillings. Then I went home, true story.

I used to have a dream to open a hostel and spend my days with travellers- finally l opened and run my hostel for 3 years, and the rest of my time I still can host some hitchhikers, world travellers:)

In the last few years I managed to travel to some amazing places like Tromso in Norway, Morocco, Senegal and Colombia!

The biggest "genius" is Béla Tarr (Sátántangó,Wreckmeister harmonies) thought it is a bit hard to comprehend. The only oscar-winner was Mephisto by István Szabó, and "Sunshine" from him is also recommended!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Now I can say that i hitchhiked in Europe for 5 weeks, around 8000 km and met Santa Claus in Finland but he did not impressed me.;)

And I had a nice time swimming in the Sea in Brighton at new years eve. Actually I swum almost every capital city's river in Europe (yes they are dirty, especially in Amsterdam)

I crossed the Atlantic Ocean with a sailing boat we hitchhiked. (And I was seasick like hell)
When I was hitchhiking on a road of Martique (small Carribean Island) I got pick up by my ex colleague, by chance - we were laughing hard how world is so small:D

I ate the bride's bucket on a wedding.

I managed to watch Titanic without crying.

Hitchhiked in Mexico for two months! Riding 1000km with one car and a completely drunk driver:DD

Supported Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal!

Became friends with Polish ticket inspectors without having a ticket, bribing them by a chewing gum! (thanks to hungarian movie "Kontrol")

It seems one of my dream just fulfilled: I started my own hostel in Budapest, 2014 december!
