Our female baby Vellamo was born in May 2020 (older sister Elma is 2,5 at that point of time) . and we will check later if it's possible to host at some point again. Note also that arrival in already 1-2 days is mostly too spontanious and will unfortunately be declined. So no requests for today, tomorrow or 1 night, ok?

Place in profile is 230 km from Helsinki in Jämsä , if you visit in summer time you can visit there.

We live about 6km from center it will take about 20-30 min by tram 6 from railway station and transport will cost about 15€/48h & +5€ for each extra 24h for 1 person . If too expensive or far, please don't send us request, we cannot affect those factors.

We also have zoo year card, if you plan a visit and need some company. we might join (note outside summer opening hours are verý short so only weekends possible)

We can offer a sleeping corner in living room with thin removable walls so people who need a lot of peaceful privacy please consider if it might be too little for you. Sleeping in the work mornings might be hard.

We have lately hosted a Welsh Corgi dog of our friends so our flat will not be good for dog allergic people.

We are ready to host sometimes (note we hope your first day arrival is by about 10pm, later days are flexible). If we give you maybe status, it must be changed to yes/no before it's agreed or not, for many contacts we need to check our updated plans. Make a couch request, not message with question, request makes it possible to follow on calender and write later host/guest comments. And we prefer 2-3 nights stays as one evening is often too short to know people who will visit us; sometimes it's been extended to few weeks in case of personality who is adaptive to our daily life.

Generally we feel that we don't have mostly possibility to make exact plans during guest stays so we expect contacts from people who understand family life with channges, ups and downs at short notice.

We hope you reply soon, if we offer couch, sometimes there were simply too many people who we expected to come and we never heard of finally. Then couch can maybe offered to someone else. Cancel your request if you found a couch while we didn´t reply yet, it might save a place for someone else for last minute request. Normally we can´t take last minute requests but you can try, sometimes it might work out (normally we do that from couch request forums by ourselves). I you want to change your visit timing, ask in good time, sometimes it´s possible, sometimes not (e.g. in summer there might be that new guests come same day as earlier leave.

If you take an early flight , take night bus to airport (more expensive between 2-4.30 am) and stay there in rest room, Helsinki has no good early public transport connections , e.g. for 6.30 am flight you have to leave us around 4am and walk to bus stop for 15-20 mins, simply bette leave late and stay a bit longer at airport (or look for host directly connected to airport) . If you travel with small kid(s) I might be ABLE to drive you to/from airport if late/early timing in question(sorry, won't do that for saving ticket or similar reasons for normal travellers if I won't naturally go to that area in right time).

We have on Wednesday evenings male/female sauna hours open for anyone and might get free times along the week from neighbours cancellations so make us aware of your interest to try sauna (you can go in private in those cases, if there´s time available). Our time (at least 60 mins) is on Saturday, we can split it.

A surfer from Finland is one of the developers of this application for smart phone. It seems useful for inner-Finland routes and is free to use. www.perille.fi (load application to mobile phone) . I tried and find cheap solutions to go to our summer cottage on random July dates so it seems really good to combine different method of transportation for low rates. You can give feedback to company/developers directly if you have some. It has now Tallinn connections from 2017 also included.

We have nearby free parking (not suitable for leaving a car for for holiday on the way to airport but to park during a visit with us.

ABOUT ME

I´m working in managerial accounting task, educated but not for titles, instead for understanding. My work is on laptop so not too bound to office times. I work for Finnish restaurant businesses so I have good personal discounts to selected restaurants, maybe we can have a lunch together.

Even if I´m metal/rock fan, I am not into "black phenomenas" or too wasted life styles. Good manysided bands who don´t recycle same stuff (like Amorphis ).

the least-wanted experiencies seem to be one-night stays, with late arrival/early departure, that´s when hostels are ideal, one just wasting own sleeping time waiting late and waking too early up, additionally we are family with changing situations so sometimes day might be stressy and we are upset of it
It´s simply nice to meet nice people and be part of their trip , we made many friends for lifetime from different destinations.

We try to offer some Finnish speciality if we have enough time to make a dinner or just let you try a beer, baked dessert. And lots of local info. Still I recommend everyone checks Helsinki booklet under visithelsinki.fi and picks it up from tourist information in Helsinki, it´s valuable and even for me it´s quite hard to recommend anything (places).
