About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Contribute, participate, be inclusive and have fun!

ABOUT ME

I currently live a few blocks from Narrowneck Beach in Devonport New Zealand. I am here pursuing my Masters in Emergency Management with the goal of working for International Aid Organizations in the future. I've organized and hosted the weekly Couchsurfing meet-ups in Hsinchu, Taiwan, Fargo, Auckland and in New Orleans, as well as monthly casual baseball games, pub-crawls, art openings, ultimate frisbee games and other events. I am currently one of the organizers and admins of Auckland's weekly CS meetups every Wednesday in downtown Auckland.

I am open-minded in all matters of politics, religion and lifestyle. I won't judge you if you don't judge me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a strong belief that you can't really understand a place unless you stay there, live and breathe its culture, and watch the seasons change and its people react. This means that I am typically in a single "hub" or area for several years (ie. Asia, Germany, New Zealand, Africa, Middle East etc.) So, usually I'll be looking for people on CS whilst in transition. I'll share a coffee/beer/wine and a conversation with anyone gladly.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Extensive, both as a host and surfer

Music, Movies, and Books

Noam Chompsky, Tony Morrison, Chuck Phalaniuk, Calvin and Hobbs, biographies, long winded drama's, Independent films, Post Rock music, Midwest indie scene... I'm just not a huge fan of country music, house music, and contemporary bands like Matchbox 20 and Nickleback (not at all actually... not one bit) But I don't judge - they're your ears not mine:) I travel with books that I trade as I go so hopefully you have something interesting to share.

In 2012 I went to Sundance Film Festival - every film I saw changed my life a little for the better

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I won a break dancing competition when I was 6. I also broke my scapula once.
