About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy, Learn, Open, Discover, Enjoy.

ABOUT ME

Uhm.. it's kinda difficult to describe one self and try to be objective, but I'll do my best: Respectful, funny, positive, diplomatic (but not much politically correct), smart, stubborn, talkative, thoughtful, fair, geeky, eclectic...
Insert cliché here

PHILOSOPHY

Work hard, play hard.
Learn as if you were going to live forever. Live, as if you were going to die tomorrow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate by providing hosting, information and friendship to the people willing to stay at my place, whenever I can and wherever I am. From this I also learn a lot by meeting travellers and sharing experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My Couchsurfing experience is growing steadily. I hosted somewhere around 100 times (very roughly) through CS, and many more friends, or friends of friends at my place, wherever it was. And I love it.
Unfortuntately I had only surfed four times, twice in Japan and twice in Genova, but I am hoping to do some trip which will allow me to meet more people as a guest.

Interests

Travelling as much as I can.
Photography.
Cooking. And eating!
Reading, specially political/philosophical and/or science fiction.
Neuroscience.
Non-pop music.
Juggling.
Robotics.
Sleeping.
Playing guitar.
Languages.
Meeting people.
Well argued discussions.
Learning, whatever and wherever.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Grew up listening metal (MetallicA, Pantera, Slayer, Sepultura, Soziedad Alkoholika, The Haunted, etc) and punk-rock (Pennywise, NOFX, Raised Fist, etc ) up to crust (Tragedy, From Ashes Rise, Down to Agony, etc) and everything in between (SOAD, Sex Pistols, RATM, Converge, etc). However, lately I've become much more eclectic, finding myself often listening post-rock (Maybeshewill, ASIWYFA, Russian Circles, Isis, etc), acoustic stuff (Jose Gonzalez, Rodrigo & Gabriela, etc), jazz or classical or even electro (Emancipator, Ratatat, Bonobo, Massive Attack, etc). I could go on, but I think you got an idea.

Movies / TV-Shows (just to name some):
Fight Club.
Memento.
Pan's Labyrinth.
Matrix (the first one, of course).
Grand Hotel Budapest.
Ghost in The Shell (S.A.C. even better)
Game of Thrones
Battlestar Galactica
Big Bang Theory
The Simpsons
Weeds
House

Books. Somehow I have a hard time choosing my favourite books, but here are some that had caused me a big impression:
1984. George Orwell.
Ensayo sobre la ceguera(Blindness). Jose Saramago.
Anything from Borges, specially 'Ficciones'.
Brave New World. Adlous Huxley.
The Lord of the Flies. William Golding
The Foundation Trilogy. Asimov.
Song of Ice and Fire. George R.R. Martin
Creation. Gore Vidal.
Johnny got his Rifle. Dalton Trumbo

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched northern lights from a frozen lake and atop a snow-covered hill, in Abisko, Sweden.
Juggled in a Christmas parade in Salamanca.
Played music (and even got some money from it) in Berlin's underground.
Slept overnight in a laundromat.
Free Hugs in Prague.
Obtained a PhD in robotics and AI.
Taught English to a class of 30 Vietnamese kids, alone.
Crossed a three lane central street in Hanoi, without waiting for the green light.
Watched a sunset in Halong Bay Vietnam, and a sunrise in Kanyakumari, India.
Changed trousers in front of St Peters Cathedral, in the Vatican.
Fed, washed, rode and been blessed by an elephant.
Ate snake, crocodile, dog, kangaroo, and a couple of bugs I can't really name.
Stopped a spreading forest fire with 2 more friends using just a stick, in Miyajima, Japan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have some skills juggling which I am glad to share. In fact, I am not very good at any particular juggling element, but manage to move around quite properly most of them (which is good to teach beginners). I can also play guitar somehow, so I could teach some basics, and would also gladly learn or jam if someones brings in his/her own instrument.
I am also an amateur photographer and would be glad to learn some more professional techniques, or teach some basics to beginners!
I can give tips for learning Spanish and English, or German or Italian to beginners. I am no particuarly good teacher, but I'll do my best.
