Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing: is it an experience or a way of life?

I am currently traveling and am always up for meeting interesting people. We may be looking for a couch to surf or we may be able to host wherever we are. Or just for hanging out. We love to meet new people and have new experiences.

Interests

I am a mom and grandma (Tutu), with strong family ties. I love to read, write, travel, and try new things for fun, adventure, learning, business, etc. I love music, theatre, movies, of all types.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like books, all kinds of books. I like movies, mostly drama I guess, and I like most kinds of music, jazz, blues, classic rock, gospel, classical, reggae, and much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the amazing things that I have done is that in the summer of 06 my daughters and I drove the Espinazo Del Diablo (Devils Spine) in our SUV. Everyone told us that we should not do it because it was sooo dangerous but I heard the scenery was beautiful and it happened to be the most direct route to where we wanted to go. This is a highway that goes between Mazatlan and Durango. We spent the morning at the "Beach of the Goats" near Teacapan. The waves were large and strong and the sun was fierce. So we got a good workout there and then began our journey on Devil's Spine. The road is very winding and narrow. I grew up driving in the mountains of Wyoming so I did not consider it dangerous but it was like being on a slow moving roller coaster all day. It took us like more than 8 hours to go about 200 miles. By the time we got to Durango I and one of my daughters were ill and the next day one of the other daughters was ill. We ate nothing but "cup of noodles", bread and fruit for three days after. However, the scenery was amazing and we saw many things and got an understanding of the land and the people that we would not have gotten otherwise. If you want to make this trip I would advise that you have enough time to spend the night halfway, or at least to take lunch and walk around and enjoy the land rather than driving straight across without stopping.

Actually, I have been told that just me taking my daughters around Mexico by myself was an amazing thing. lol.
