About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be digitally nomadic.

ABOUT ME

My greatest professional and hobbyist interests are in high school history teaching and in digital graphic art design, in a kind of combined and overlapping way, for all four categories.

I have been a Chicago resident for my entire life, except for school, though I've lived in a handful of different neighborhoods: Edgewater, Printer's Row, Humboldt Park, South Shore, and Northcenter.

I did the bulk of my life's traveling (so far) as an activist during my college years. Events ranged from abortion clinic defenses to anti-Klan demos, labor rallies, anti-war and anti-police brutality marches, among others.

I've been through the Southwest, to L.A., to St. Louis, around the Midwest, was in Houston once, also to Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City. Also traveled to the Upper Pennisula, Holt, Detroit, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Providence, Atlantic City, New York, D.C., and Atlanta.

Since the bulk of my traveling has been around political issues it's been memorable but not exactly on my own schedule. I look forward to some travel of my own making, starting with Vancouver and Istanbul.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm basically a structural materialist, so I've come to refine the nature of reality into the exclusively existing three categories of ADMINISTRATION / MANAGEMENT, LABOR, and PLEASURE. Any conceivable human thought or activity will fall into one of these three categories, or a combination of them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CouchSurfing as soon as I saw it, around October of 2007, through a link from Meetup.com. I saw it was excellent right away and have been glad to participate in local gatherings here and there around Chicago. I've been preoccupied with my own projects lately, and have felt like a CouchSurfing preemie so far. I'll be gradually more available for more of a combined work-as-I-go and couchsurf-as-I-go kind of lifestyle in the coming months and years.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

...has been good so far. I haven't gotten into it nearly as much as I'd like to, but that will be changing...!

Interests

I've recently been focusing on getting out some educational-type and conceptual 3-D digital artwork -- something I've been anticipating doing for at least 10 years. It's been like waiting for the paintbrush and canvas to be invented, but now that it's here there just aren't enough hours in the day...!

It may take some hard knocking on my forehead to break me out of my internal spell but 4 out of 5 people surveyed say that the results are worth it! = )

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes to the first two -- ask me. I do all of my reading online now, mostly current events in the revolutionary leftist bent.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Finding that all things CouchSurfing went far more smoothly than I'd even thought possible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach anything to anyone provided that you want to learn it and that I understand it.

I'll be open to learning anything provided that it's taught or explained well.

I'll share anything I have that I'm not using at the moment.
