About Me

Hello everybody!
After a career change, I lived in Africa very recently and now I am on a remote job between Italy and Africa. I work in Global Health / Health economics, meaning health system reforms and these kind of things in developing countries (worked in Liberia and a bit in Sierra Leone)

PHILOSOPHY

work hard... play harder!

and remember also: you'll never gonna stop the rain by complaining (cit.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to host people when I can, being hosted when You can, making new friendships or just having a chat in front of a beer! I am an old school couchsurfer, started back in 2007. I try not to couchsurf for a single day because it's hard to know each other; if I stay in a city for a day... let's meet up :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Meetings: no way I can count meetings, many in Rome, Geneva, Rotterdam, and all around the world
Surfing:
Same, I cannot count them. the best one was staying in a ger tent in Mongolia, staying at Dante's in Peru, staying at Veronika's in St Petersburg but really all of them have been great and I can't write all of them here.

The two below are from 2007 as you can see :)

Brussels@Joris's place 16-11-2007
't Stad (Antwerp)@Bart's place 17-11-2007

AWESOME.
The best thing is that, in both these experience, I had some insight from the cities which i would have never had, i met two great guys (and others),
and I learned a lot of new things (belgian political situation, what's a fondue borguignon and how to eat it, why beers are so good in belgium, who invented belgian fries etc. etc.)which is something I love!

Hosting:
I have hosted a lot more people than the ones below, and it's always been great!

Michal one night in Feb 08 after a party at worm. crazy night. craaaaaaaazy night.
Tara on the Sinterklaas weekend (30-11 & 1-12 07)
Carter, same weekend, only on Sat night (1-12-07)

A pleasure, you are always welcome North America!

Anne-Wil and his friend Raoul, in Rome via acri 24, july 2008, ooooh it's such a nice season, summer in Rome...really good days

Vivi on the very first day (jan09) of her 3months journey in Europe eh eh what a breath of eastern life !

Philippe and Anais who stayed at my place just one night in feb09. recommended good guys!

Interests

Development, international cooperation, health systems, some politics.
Languages, I love them.
West Africa and Liberia.

Snowboarding as best as i can, reading, traveling, meeting new people, learning everything i can learn, having fun with old and new friends, solving problems, make things work, clubbing and dancing out with friends, have a quiet beer in the neighborhood pub...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: formerly a metalhead, with a passion for thrash metal. Currently I listen really to every kind of music, from electro to jazz, from punk hardcore to drumnbass, reggae and rock etc.etc. Lately I am a lot in soul, jazz, funk, blues.

Movies: I LOVE movies about mafia and crime, the godfather(1,2,3), usual suspects, shawshank redemption, the sting, cidade the deus, and so many others. Italian B-movies, pulp movies and splatters, what else?

Books: usually i go on authors, i try one book and if i like it i read the entire bibliography, or at least those books that are written in the same way.

My favourites: Massimo Carlotto, Gianrico Carofiglio, Jean Claude Izzo, Irvine Welsh (Filth), Leonardo Sciascia, Milan Kundera, Haruki Murakami, for some reasons i dont know i liked Sophie Kinsella, John King and some others i cannot remember

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

traveling in morocco, sleeping in a little farm in the mountains with the whole (12 people!!!) family there. priceless.

living in lisbon for one year as an exchange student...you should all try living in Portugal, it's the best!

so many other things that might come up to my mind when we'll meet :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: languages i can speak, being rational, stuff i studied and/or learnt during my whole life in this world, customs of my culture - home town especially cooking and good wine

Learn: as much as possible
