I stay in France as much as possible, but not having a good excuse for a permanent visa, I must submit to our insensitive politicians' inhumane laws that push us around by force every three months. (I detest politicians.)

I love to be in Paris in the summer, and it has become my new "home town". My dream is to settle down forever in a small french or italian village with the woman of my dreams and establish a small auberge where we shall have a café, a place to always welcome traveling Couchsurfers, and a lovely garden where we will grow tomatoes, herbs, and flowers.

COUCH REQUEST?
I love to host CouchSurfers. I've done it hundreds of times now.
I do, however, have 3 demands.

1) If you don't read this profile first, you will not know what I look for in a Couch Request that inspires me to say. "Yes", and I will respectfully decline yours.

"The Triangle" in North Carolina (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) is not a CouchSurfing location. Don't send me a Couch Request if you are visiting Raleigh - it's too far from here. Send me a Couch Request only if you want to CouchSurf in and around Carrboro or Chapel Hill.

2) Intelligent people like myself and especially those of us who know someone who died of it, know damn well Covid is not a hoax. I will not kiss the ass of any trump fascist, religious idiot, or other uneducated moron who is not fully vaccinated. In your Couch Request I expect you to include the date(s) of your vaccination, and If I host you, on your arrival at my place I will require your vaccination card to prove it.

3) I do not tolerate freeloaders. I've paid my donation and I will host only those surfers "Payment Verified". Not one damn bit do I like the new greedy corporate CouchSurfing that demands money. But that's the way CS is these days, so put your money in the pot with all those of us who do.

For me to accept your Couch Request, you must read at least some of my profile, and comment on something in it. I suggest that you mention something I "am not". If you are a beginner Couchsurfer, I do not require that you have friends or previous references (we all started the same way), but a complete, full, well-defined CS profile that lets me know who you are, is absolutely required and will work well in your favor.

I usually do not accept Requests to host vegetarians and vegans. I enjoy cooking with and for my guests and I am not a vegetarian. It would be inaccurate to say that you will not be welcome, but very simply, my home kitchen environment may be what you think of as 'contaminated' and I don't patronize guests who expect me to adjust to any sort of special spiritual or moral hogwash.

I rarely host boyfriends/girlfriends. I support strong and brave women independent from men that retard her progress, require her compromise, and inhibit her personal growth. I cringe at the sight of a boyfriend's dismal attempt to display a 'kewl' plumage of sexuality, confidence, leadership and reliability rarely found in men who ...

I prefer that your Couch Request use the "Send Request" Button (unless the website function is not working). A plain message asking me to host you is OK only when I am not in France. Your Couch Request must be well-written and it must let me know what you are up to. I support the philosophy that CS is primarily a way to find a place to stay, (I'm not all bound up by that "CS is a spiritual blah... blah... blah" concept) but I will be looking for your CS spirit. I DESPISE-HATE-DETEST Facebook
I struggle not to use Facebook for any CouchSurfing activity. I'm dismayed to see so much CSing that requires it. The entire set of social websites serve only the purposes of capitalist greed and/or corporate/government abuse. I'm concerned about privacy, especially now that CS is a data-mining, profit=based corporation directly affiliated with Facebook, and I'm cautious about the way we all voluntarily surrender our civil rights when we participate in these internet atrocities. I am quite amazed and distressed to see that so many people do not seem to care about their privacy and integrity.

I spent most of my life in the Hollywood cinema business producing and directing with a little bit of acting, too. I was once the Film Archivist at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and worked on the Oscars show many times editing the film clips. I was on the original staff of the Los Angeles International Film Exposition, and I have met filmmakers from around the world.
Los Angeles is now part of my past and I may never return.

I spend winters in North Carolina where some of my CouchSurfing friends from Paris and around the world visited me in my little village of Carrboro, "The Paris of the Piedmont". I host a weekly CS fine food event second Wednesday -- an evening of cooking and learning known as "French Cooking in Carrboro". Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After organizing and hosting in Los Angeles, I left there in April 2009. I am now traveling in France and around Europe for extended periods of time, seeking a couch for myself wherever I go, organizing events and participating in many CS activities. My home base is usually Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

I'm quite disappointed with those responsible for the ruin of the magnificent original Couchsurfing concept and system that served the community for so long.

Every summer we celebrate the

I was organizer of two trips to Versailles including Les Grands Eaux Nocturnes, a day of theatre in the park, and I am the creator of the Paris 'Picnic du Jour'.

During the winter in Chapel Hill, North Carolina I host many wonderful CSers passing through that "neck of the woods" before I return to Paris. When I am in Carolina for the summer, I host "Saturday Nites at Rodney's". Many joined me in my Carrboro home for my CS cooking event, "Cuisine Français à Carrboro", or at the weekly Potluck dinner. I hosted the Triangle Potluck twice.

I especially encourage my dear friends from Paris, and all of my friends from around the world that I met in Paris, to visit me in the States — my favorite place in the USA is North Carolina and I spend most of my time in the States there.

Books I enjoy are usually historical fiction, weird/original stuff, and caring, human dramas. Alexandre Dumas has been a significant influence in my life. Some of my favorite books are To Kill A Mockingbird, The d'Artagnan and Musketeers saga, The Count of Monte Cristo, Les Miserables, Gone With The Wind, Skinny Legs and All, The Time Travelers Wife, The Magus.

I most enjoy classical music and jazz (especially 1930s).
