ABOUT ME

We got married in October 2007 took a round-the-world honeymoon spanning 4 continents over 18 months. We had both done some international travel on our own, but this was our first big trip together. We really enjoyed exploring new exotic locales and meeting new people! We could not have asked for better hosts. So many great experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

Tracy-always striving for self-betterment. Trying not to be judgemental and understanding I can be content in every moment without great effort. Being open to things that are unfamiliar, being joyous and accepting.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

it was Tim's mom who suggested CS to us shortly before we left on our trip. We signed up and now we are hooked! We have been amazed at how full our trip has been with the addition of locals and their families, guests and friends. It somehow is like traveling and being home at the same time. Amazing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have had the most amazing experiences surfing. We keep meeting such incredible people that we would like to stay in touch with for a long long time. We feel every time we stayed with a new host, we learned more about how to be a great host ourselves when we finished our trip. Since moving to New Zealand we've had the pleasure of hosting some great CSers and look forward to more in the future.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Tracy-I am reading The Cairo Trilogy right now but love Willa Cather, Cormac McCarthy, Jhumpa Lahiri, Agatha Christy for light and thoughtful reading, The Grimm's Tales are fantastic for slightly gorey bedtime reading, non-fiction on war, presidents and Malcolm X have been favorites in the past and present. Love movies-The Descent is a favorite.
Music-very eclectic.

Tim-I'm a big fan of graphic novels - Rising Stars, Sandman, Sleeper, Sin City - to name a few. I also LOVE Tom Robbins novels. My love of movies is diverse and varied. There are Classics: Casablanca, Lawrence of Arabia - The Sci-fi/Action Classics: Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner - Great Modern Films - Usual Suspects, Lives of Others, La Vita e Bella
We both love anime - Miyazaki is THE master.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tracy-So many things are amazing but the first thing that comes to mind is being on a lake in the Canadian boundary waters and watching the Aurora Borealis at night. We were portaging for two weeks and we saw it on the second to last night. It was surreal.

Teach, Learn, Share

Tracy-I am a yoga teacher, and fitness instructor so can be helpful with diet, health and fitness. I can teach relaxation, flexibility and breathing techniques. I also did two semesters as the assistant to my vocal coach so I could help with some exercises designed to help in public speaking or singing.

Tim-I do 3D computer animation for a living so I could help with learning any of the major 3D applications or offer input on graphic design. I am also a certified massage therapist and can help with relaxation techniques and stretching. I love cooking and am pretty handy in the kitchen. I really hope to have the opportunity to cook up some wonderful meals while we travel.
