Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never used CS to find a place to stay and sleep but I have made many, many good friends thanks to this great network.

Interests

Food and drink - especially potlucks. Bicycling - commuting and touring mostly, looking to improve my repair and maintenance skills. Hiking and camping. Yoga. Web design and mapping. Current Affairs/Politics/History. Urban and regional sustainability - well, really all things "green". Looking forward to getting back into jiu jitsu and surfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The David Suzuki Reader, Cocksure by Mordechai Richler, The Dispossessed by Ursula K. LeGuin, 1421: The Year China Discovered The World by Gavin Menzies, Neuromancer by William Gibson, How to Eat Move and Be Healthy by Paul Chek, The Ingenuity Gap and The Up Side of Down by Thomas Homer-Dixon, The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once awoke and unzipped my tent to find nothing but chill damp cloud - nothing else to be seen or felt. Within the time it took to eat a granola bar little green islands were appearing all around and I relaxed to witness the great expanse of Andean cloud forest unveiled all around the ridge we had perched on the night before.

(On that same trek our lives were saved by a high school principal illegally keeping cattle in a forest reserve ... but that's another story)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Cribbage, how to make a fresh and hearty quinoa salad or miso glazed salmon, how to start a campfire in most conditions, ... likely a thing or two I cannot think of now.

Learn: How to relax.

Share: Gusto!
