About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel. Discover. Learn. Live. Enjoy.

ABOUT ME

Money spent travelling is the only money worth spending. I enjoy learning about the places I visit, and the people I meet. I believe we all have interesting stories to tell.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in the goodness of people and in the power of dialogue and communication.
I think that good questions are worth a lot more than the answers.
I think we come to this world to try to be happy, and that if we learn to enjoy the journey, then we are already half way there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed in Ireland, Germany and Czech Republic, and hanged out with awesome people in London, Irelando, Scotland and pretty much everywhere I went.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not too many yet, but so far so good!
I've hanged out with travelers at home and abroad, made some really good friends and showed people around.
When travelling I've received a lot of couch offers (even when I wasn't looking for places to saty), which proves the world is filled with nice, generous people. (Thanks to all who sent me an invitation!)
I'm so thankful for all the oportunities that being part of this network has already opened up for me.

Interests

I love reading and writing. I love practicing Yoga. I've become addicted to Tango. I like doing things outdoors. I grew up in the Plains, but I discovered my love for mountains. I enjoy riding bikes in the city. I love good stories. I think travelling is transforming.

Music, Movies, and Books

Forest Gump, I am Sam, Slumdog Millionaire, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Truman Show, La culpa es de Fidel, Rojo como el cielo, Nueve Reinas, Little Miss Sunshine, Amelie, No man's land, Into the Wild (best soundtrack ever!), Kill Bill, Unglorious Bastards, 800 Balas, Wall-E, Nemo, Toy Story, Monsters Inc... and so on. Too many favourites!

Books... well, I read almost anything I can get my hands on. I enjoy long novels I can devour in a few days, stories about people, .
"Viaje a Ixtlán" (Castaneda), "Sophie's World" (Gaarner), "In the name of the Rose" (Eco), "El Evangelio según Jesucristo" (Saramago), "De Cronopios y de Famas" (Cortázar)... really, there are too many.

Music: U2, Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Superheavy, Gustavo Cerati, Charly García, Led Zeppelin, Amy Winehouse, Fiona Apple, Nirvana, Calle 13, Manu Chao, Asaf Avidan... I also like dance music, traditional music, blues, soul, indie... anything that will adjust to my state of mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having married the love of my life after 3 months of knowing him :)

Living abroad, away from my family and friends, in a foreign English speaking country, for a whole year, at age 17 and still have the best time of my life was a life changing experience.

Some amazing things I've done: I've walked over a glaciar, done rafting in the Colorado River, seen the Grand Canyon, weeped at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, enjoyed sunsets and starry skies at the Quebrada of Humahuaca, gone insane in New York, flipped out at a Brodway show, ridden a bike around Berlin at night, shared an awesome bus ride around the US East Coast with 47 people from 17 different countries during 15 days. I stood up at the end of the world at the Cliffs of Moher, slept on a night train in Scotland, lived in Lexington VA for a year and survived!, ate po' boys in New Orleans, walked across the Golden Gate bridge, hiked in the Apalachians, made friends from all over the world.

I've loved and been loved back.
I've made a handful of irreplaceable friends.
There are at least 4 places in this world I can call 'my home'.
I have more than one family.
I have not conformed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach how to cook a couple of things (my coconut and dulce de leche cake is a hit!)
I'm good at helping people prepare for presentations, speeches, etc. and writing essays, thesis, and so on. I've managed a small NGO so if you are into that, I can give you a hand organizing social projects, searching for funding, improving your website, social media, etc.
I can teach English and Spanish.

I would like to learn how to cook traditional dishes, learn to use Photoshop, take better photos, practice German, fixing bikes. I like learning, so anyhting new is welcome :)

I could share music, books, travel experiences and ideas for making this world better.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in a one-room apartment and I don't have a couch, so I'm unable to host. Sorry!
I can take you tango dancing, share a bike ride around the city, go for a picnic or a couple of beers. I'm more of a day person, but hey! who knows? night plans are fun too!
