About Me
I love to write, to travel, and to have new adventures. See new places, meet new people. The summer before last I bussed around the east coast-- saw New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington DC. It was amazing. I met a close friend, made a lot of great memories, and got to see the other side of the country for the first time. Since then, I've continued to travel, and feel that bug. I hope to embark on a long trip this summer or fall around the US, hitchhiking from place to place and either camping or crashing on couches.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To have a great time and meet a lot of great people. To see the states, and later on, the world.
Interests
Hiking-- my mom lives out in the mountains, with a thousand great hiking trails all around. I grew up hiking with my family and friends, and I love it.
Reading-- I grew up mostly without TV, but with a great need to keep my mind occupied, so I read a ton. Still do.
Writing-- I've been writing since third grade. Some would say I peaked in third grade. I keep on regardless, because I love it, and it keeps my soul alive.
Cooking-- My mom cooked all the best stuff when I was growing up. I take her recipes with me wherever I go, because I love good food, and I like cooking for anyone who takes me in. Chicken pot pie, quinoa and salmon, guacamole, pot roast, French toast, the best chocolate chip cookies you'll ever have. A whole slew of different kinds of cooking.
Anything that blows my hair back: there are so many things I haven't tried, that I would love to try. White water river rafting, skydiving, fishing, woodworking, slam poetry. Hell. I love to learn, and watch, especially when I'm learning from someone who really loves what they do. Love is infectious. and I know that I grow the most outside my comfort zone, so I try to stay there as much as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I like to go to Pandora, and set it to 'the shins' or 'jimmy eat world'. I love Coldplay, John Mayer, that kind of stuff. But honestly, I like a variety. The killers, some country: Miranda lambert, carrie underwood. I like theory of a deadman, chevelle, saving abel. Zero 7. sara bareilles.
Movies:
American Beauty
Garden State. A lot more, but those are important.
Into the Wild.
Books: The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.
I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb.
The Stand by Stephen King.
Breathers: A Zombie's Lament by S. G. Browne
again, more, too many to name.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
That east coast trip I mentioned. Plus, I drove with that same friend from Seattle to El Paso, Texas. I stayed for a few weeks, went to Austin, Texas with her, had some amazing margaritas and Mexican food, caught a glimpse of the Mexican border. That was last summer.
Also, when I was in high school, I went to New Orleans to help rebuild houses. It was an incredible experience. It made me want to travel, and volunteer, and help people. It made me feel like a good person, and it made me crave that feeling.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a great editor, cook, conversationalist, and I love to laugh.
I can listen like a pro, and learn quickly.
I never learned to share. (just kidding!)
