About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Humanity to be our religion

ABOUT ME

A simple person with a passion to meet new people, gain new experiences and give meaning to my life.

PHILOSOPHY

Sharing is caring. I believe in Humanity and my purpose in life is to constantly learn to let go of things. I am not a religious person but definitely a Spiritual one. Hence, I may not believe in the idols and the customs but I certainly do believe in the existence of a Supreme Power - in what form I don't know. I believe that it's very important that we as humans sincerely realize that we have the real power to bring a real change. Now the supreme question is how to use this power and when to use it. This realization is what I strive for.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS Experiences - More than what I expected
I enjoy company of what our society calls "Different" people. Well then, I am glad that I meet many different people through CS. I make friends, I make good friends and I make lifelong friends. I learn things I could have never learnt if CS would not exist. I would love to share some experiences here:-

Shedding the Perceptions: While growing up, we build perceptions and notions based on our external environment. Based on this, we make decisions, which in turn shapes our character. CS provided me with a platform to learn about different people, cultures and countries. It helped me to look at things from a different perspective. It gave me a vibrant external environment, which enables me to shed perceptions and as a result opens my mind to be more receptive and open to new ideas.

Learning new things: Anything and everything - language, food, music etc. Whereas my CS friends from Italy and China taught me to cook authentic Italian tomato sauce and Carbonara respectively, another one from Spain inspired me to learn the Spanish language. Anyone and anything can inspire you - You just have to be receptive and eager enough!

Bring the World at your doorstep: No time to travel? No budget to travel? Want to know more about a new culture? Well, CS it is - brings the world to your doorstep and brings along with it all you aspire to learn - time and curiosity are the only real investments:)

Networking: Today I can proudly say that I have a network of friends from as far as south as Tasmania to as north as Norway. Connecting with all these friends does come with a HUGE benefit - a constant flow of authentic information and knowledge!

I can write a whole book on CS. But I would like to pause a bit here.

Interests

I cherish company of passionate and ignited minds. I am an ardent reader, I watch lots of movies and I am always ready for a good discussion.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you were to ask me what's the best thing that has happened to me - Couch Surfing would be my definite reply. During my a year and a half stint in CS, I have hosted more than 80 travelers in my place. That means I have met, discussed and shared experiences with people from more than 30 nationalities without stepping out of Nairobi. The world comes to me:) I believe that each person I have met has influenced me in one way or the other. The people I meet through my work are living mundane lives with very basic priorities in mind - food, shelter and security. BUT, the people I meet through CS do not live mundane lives. They teach me how to live life. They show me the way to look at life from a different perspective and what they leave behind is inspiration - to do something different and to give meaning to my life. This is what my CS experience has been so far. I am sure lots is on the way:)
