About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We're heading on a round the world trip - Central America, South America, LA, NZ, Sydney and Hong Kong

ABOUT ME

Hello!

My boyfriend and I will shortly be embarking on a RTW trip - although we had planned about 7 months together, once in a life time opportunities has mean that we'll now be doing 4 months of it together (Central America, South America, LA) and then I'll be doing two and a half months of it on my own (Fiji, NZ, Sydney and HK).

We both live in Guernsey and have a fantastic life style here. I am a Sydney girl who has been in Guernsey now for about 5 years (met boy, fell in love, stayed!) and Rich is a local Guernsey boy. Work wise, I am a lawyer and Rich is an accountant (I know, sounds boring, but I promise you, we're not!) We both work hard so that we can travel as much as we can - and to be fair, we've now done a fair bit if travelling, but mainly short trips. Thus, we cannot wait for our RTW trip!!

We're both really fit and active, we love our sports and anything that involves a challenge - we also cherish our down time as well - you cannot be constantly on the go?!

Personally, I love to socialise and meet new people and have done a fair bit of travelling already...life is meant to be an adventure right?! I honestly feel that the only way to travel and really see a country or a city is to get to where the tourists don't go - that's real travelling to me!;-) We've done about three stints of volunteering in Africa so far and simply fell in love with travelling 'inside' a country.

As for when I am travelling on my own, I am constantly on the go and want to see and experience everything - sometimes that is good and sometimes that is bad, but I know when to stop and smell the roses!

Both Rich and I are pretty self sufficient, (you have to be these days?!) and can take care of ourselves pretty well, but it would be great to also spend a bit of time with the person I (or we are) am crashing with - thats the fun bit right?!! getting to know people and making new friends - thats what we're in it for after all!!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is for living, not coasting...whether you're being the passanger or the driver, always be in control of your direction.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am hoping that we will be able to meet new people and make new friends on our RTW - both when we are travelling together, and when I am travelling on my own. At this stage, we're only looking to stay with people as we will be giving up our house in Guernsey, but in time, we'll certainly look to return the favour to anyone wanting to come to Guernsey once we have a place again!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I first moved to London (before moving to Guernsey), I spent the first 6 weeks couchsurfing and have had a fair few of couch surfers stay with me in Sydney and London - so know the game a bit! A fantastic way to meet people, even new friends - and to help people out - I mean after all, we have all been there!!

Interests

Sport (anything sport - except cricket, can't really get my head around it being a sport...), travelling, being outdoors, trying new things, shopping, experiencing, living, reading...just generally having fun and being active! Did I mention playing shithead, wine, cheese? Perhaps also beer and pool...the lsit can go on and on and on....! ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots! Generally love fictional books based on real life, anything to do with Africa...love movies, Lock Stock is my fav and as for music - anything I can sing or dance too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So much could be said here, Volunteering in Mozambique (amazing), volunteering in Madagascar, travelling Europe for sport (touch rugby), seeing the most beautiful sunset ever in Koh Pan Yang (literally made my heart beat faster and then hyperventilate), spilling red wine on myself in a vineyard in Corfu listening to a violin quartet which apparently launched Rich's love for me, wing-walking on the outside of an aeroplane, trekking through the Atlas Mountains and getting caught in a massive snow storm with nothing more than a cycling jacket to keep warm - the list could go on...we have seen and experienced so much - and have so much more to experience!!

Teach, Learn, Share

Everyone has a philosphy, an opinion, an experience, a story and advice - you just need to speak with them to let them share it...you can grow so much as a person just from listening and sharing yourself...alot of people forget that!
