"Mosques"

1)
"Blue Mosque Sultanahmet"
The Blue Mosque, which is one of the Istanbul's premier sights, has been constructed between the years 1609-1616 by Mehmet Aga who was one of the famous architects of the period.here is an interesting story of the mosque; according to it, Sultan Ahmet I wanted to have a minaret made of gold which is "altin" in Turkish. The architect misunderstood him as "alti" which means "six" in English. However, when the architect was shivering as "am I going to be beheaded?", the Sultan Ahmed I liked the minarets so much. Prior to that time, no sultan had a mosque with 6 minarets. The Sultanahmet Mosque is the only mosque in Turkey that has six minarets.
2)"Suleymaniye Mosque"
The Suleymaniye Mosque (Turkish: Suleymaniye Camii) is a grand 16th-century mosque in Istanbul, Turkey built by Suleiman the Magnificent. The Suleiman Mosque was built on the order of sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and constructed by the great Ottoman architect Sinan. The construction work began in 1550 and the mosque was finished in 1557.
3)"Ortakoy Mosque"
Ortakoy Mosque, officially the Buyuk Mecidiye Camii (Grand Imperial Mosque of Sultan Abdulmecid) in Istanbul, is situated at the seaside of Marmara Sea in the Ortakoy pier square, which is one of the most important attraction points of Besiktas district, one of the most popular locations on the Bosphorus. The original Ortakoy Mosque was built in the 18th century. The current mosque, which was erected in its place, was ordered by Sultan Abdulmecid and built between 1854 and 1856. Its architects were Armenian father and son Garabet Amira Balyan and Nigogayos Balyan, who designed it in Neo-Baroque style.
The wide, high windows let the ever-changing light reflections of the Bosphorus shine in the mosque.
4)"New Mosque"
The New Mosque (Yeni Cami), in Istanbul's Eminonu district on the Golden Horn at the southern end of Galata Bridge, is officially the Mosque of the Valide Sultan (Queen Mother) because it was commissioned by Safiye, mother of Sultan Mehmet III in 1597.

After her son died, Safiye was no longer Queen Mother, with a queen's powers and revenues, so her mosque sat unfinished.
Six sultans later, Turhan Hatice, Queen Mother of Sultan Mehmet IV, took up the work and finished it, which is another reason it's called the Vailde Sultan's Mosque.

"Museums"

1)Istanbul Modern Art Museum
Istanbul Modern Art Museum (Turkish: Istanbul Modern Sanat Muzesi), usually just called Istanbul Modern, is a museum for contemporary art on the European side of Istanbul, inaugurated on December 11, 2004.
The museum, located in a converted warehouse in Tophane in the Karakoy district on the coast of Bosphorus, is the first of its kind in Turkey. It is easily reached by the Istanbul's tram system.Istanbul Modern has exhibitions on two floors. The museum's permanent exhibition is, along with the shop and the restaurant, located on the top floor. The changing exhibitions are located on the lower floor, along with the cinema and library.

2)"Hagia Sophia"

Hagia Sophia (Greek: "Holy Wisdom", Turkish: Ayasofya) is a former patriarchal basilica, later a mosque, now a museum, in Istanbul. Famous in particular for its massive dome, it is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. It was the largest cathedral in the world for nearly a thousand years, until the completion of the Medieval Seville Cathedral in 1520.It is situated on the European side of Istanbul,in Sultanahmet Square.
The current building was originally constructed as a church between 532 and 537 AD on the orders of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, and was in fact the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site (the previous two had both been destroyed by riots). It was designed by two architects, Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles. The Church contained a large collection of holy relics and featured, among other things, a 50 ft (15 m) silver iconostasis. It was the patriarchal church of the Patriarch of Constantinople and the religious focus point of the Eastern Orthodox Church for nearly 1000 years.

3)Archaeological Museum

Istanbul Archaeological Museum dependent on the General Directorate of Monuments and Museums of the Ministry of Culture is on the Osman Hamdi Bey Ascent that opens to the Topkapi Palace Museum from the right of the Gulhane Park entry which is in the Sultanahmet district. It is on the European side of Bosphorus. Istanbul Archeological Museum was established by Osman Hamdi Bey who was an archaeolog and a museum curator as the Empire Museum on June 13, 1891. Osman Hamdi Bey, with a regulations he prepared in the year 1881, has prevented the smuggling of the old opuses outside the country.
The museum is open everyday between 09.00 and 17.00 except Mondays.

4)Kariye (Chora) Museum

stanbul is long known as a city endowed with layer upon layer of cultural riches dating from ancient times. But beyond the obvious sites in the Old City, there is a jewel that's rarely seen: the Kariye Museum. It's not easy to do but it is well worth the effort. The interior walls are covered with exquisite Byzantine religious art that has no equal anywhere in the world. Despite earthquake damage in 1894, many spectacular mosaics remain, awesome in their fine detail, displaying subtle shadings and rich colors that are lacking in earlier Byzantine mosaics.

5)"Hagia Irini"

The Hagia Irini church which comes from the Byzantine period stands in the courtyard of Topkapi Palace in Sultanahmet. This church is the second biggest Byzantine church after Hagia Sophia that survived until the present day.
The church was built by the Byzantine Emperor Lustiniaus I by early IVth Century (360) AD in Istanbul.

6)"The Great Palace Mosaic Museum"

The Great Palace Mosaics have been tessellated with a unique workmanship between the years 450-550 AD. The Great Palace Mosaic Museum was first opened in the year 1953 dependant to the Istanbul Archeological Museum but then it was related to the Hagia Sophia Museum in the year 1979. It is situated inside the Arasta Bazaar in the Sultanahmet..
