About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to experince what life has to give me and meet people from all walks of life whome I can share knowledge with.

ABOUT ME

I am a visual artist and musician. I like to be funny and act silly but often like to also talk and debate about topics of human behavior, science, and politics. I believe it is healthy for the mind to seek answers often and frequently face new experiences and challenges. I like spending time with friends riding bikes and walking around destination known or unknown.
I grew up around many different cultures and different kinds of people so I am welcoming to all people. I do not tolerate the ignorance of racial, religious, or any other discrimination. All people have flaws and skills so we must learn from each other and ourselves. I have found that spending time with people of a different culture or nation is a great way to think outside of your own nation and culture and see yourself and your nation as you appear to others and hopefully determine the reality of who and what you are. I have learned a lot and want to learn more. I believe these connections can help us to find peace in the world and in ourselves.

PHILOSOPHY

Be a good person, be curious and wise and avoid ignorance at all times. Follow your love, dreams and ambitions, hold them tight and close. Have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCH SURFING
When I have time to be really active in the CS community I would send a welcome letter I send to nearby travelers with advice and ideas of what you can do where I live. I find that many travelers are appreciative of the welcome and information. I always pass the word on about Couch Surfing to get more people involved and help people travel but mostly for the main goal of closing the gaps between cultures that cause misunderstandings and conflicts waged in ignorance.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While living in my parents house we have hosted many guests from around the world. I have also helped many students who come here on student work visa's for the summer. I have assisted travelers in transportation, housing, personal security, shopping, cultural/ legal understanding, and language tutoring. Now I live in Philadelphia where the local CS group is very active in its own facebook group and meets for diverse events a few times a week. We have a ton of fun.

Interests

I enjoy meeting all kinds of people, sharing our thoughts, and enjoying our time because life is short. I teach myself to speak, read, and write in what ever language interests me most at the time. I liked to fill my car with friends and drive winding roads to nice locations to hang out and watch sunsets, stars, the moon, sunrises and wild animals. I like to visit museums, historic sites, and rare collections. I love music and go to see shows every week and I sing and play music with my friends. I like playing the less common instruments like the Chinese ErHu and melodica to chance new sounds. I like to see and create art. I try to capture and save moments on camera.

Music, Movies, and Books

Les Miserables, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Office Space, The Dictionary, The Almanac, Books for learning history and foreign languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In LA my friend and I took large red couches on the LA subway to get them to our place across the city. We pretty much had a whole living room on two hand truck carts and rolled them onto the train. It barely fit and we sure got a lot of attention from the security by the time we rolled up in the central station. They were waiting for us at Grand Central Station so from there we rolled it all by hand all the way to Pershing square through the streets. :)

My team and I threw a couch over the goalpost at my highschool football field in an event called a Couch-A-Thon in Virginia Beach where teams carry couches across the city and do odd missions and tasks with them.

I have played in massive paintball games with 60+ people in a single game.

I was nearly blown over by the thrust of a B25 bomber I was standing behind while volunteering at the airfield. A box truck and event tent almost flipped too.

I stayed in a 1930's movie theater that is used as a recording studio. It was built in a little town that was built on the lava flow of the volcano next to it. Man, what a view. The moonlight on the snow capped mountain glowing in the night over the erie little stoner town of Weed, Ca.

The most amazing thing is the people I have met. Many from home U.S. but also around the world including Italy, Russia, Puerto Rico, Burma, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, and more. I have become great friends and like family with many of them.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is so much I'd like to learn about in this world. I like learning about all kinds of cultures and lifestyles. When I meet people who speak other languages I also try to learn the language and culture to help them feel more at home and comfortable. I think we all have great lessons to learn and teach each other and couch surfing is an excellent way to make that happen.
