About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Appreciation of gifts great and small

ABOUT ME

He is an erstwhile craft beer nerd, she an erstwhile massage therapist. We are trying to decide what we want to be when we grow up. Hell, we still trying to decide if we want to grow up!

We love to research new towns on the regional Slow Foods websites because we know that they will always guide you to the best food. We travel on our stomachs and enjoying seeking out restaurants that give a sense of place.

Now we both have an Eno Hammock, will travel. I don't know if you've seen these but they are made of parachute material and pack into a little ball, so handy!

PHILOSOPHY

"(S)He defined philosophy as the finding of bad reason for what one believes by instinct." - Huxley

Listen to your gut. (And feed it good food!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now we are the surfers. We are really excited about hosting when we get set up in a house.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have couchsurfed across America. Twice.

One our way out west we were in a hurry and we couchsurfed the southern route staying with one awesome couple. Then we got to Durango and stayed with an AirBnB host for a month before we found our home (because noone wants a couch surfer for a month!)

One our return journey East we have been couchsurfing for a solid month, but we are fortunate enough to have either a dear friend or family member every 8 hours staying an average of 2-3 days per host. (More with the Moms of course.)

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Movies: Romance and Cigarettes- It's a musical written by John Turturro and produced by the Cohen Bros. Auntie Mame: "Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death." and Lonesome Dove: because sometimes you need a six hour epic where Tommy Lee Jones kicks the crap outta some cowboys.

Music: Live. Polyphonic. Funky. Soulful. Instrumental. Jazz. Fun.

Books: Big Fan of Tom Robbins, Michael Chabon, love fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing on the balcony at Balcony House at Mesa Verde, remarkable.

Sitting on the Rocks of Hovs Hollar at the edge of the waves early in the morning before anyone has arrived, thrilling.

Tubing down the Animas over class three rapids half cocked with your friends, priceless.

Teach, Learn, Share

We both love to cook. I can outline how to make a cob oven. John knows craft brewing in and outs. I know a bit about wild edibles and would love to know more, especially when traveling to different growing zones! I have a natural remedy for most ailments.
