About Me

PSA: COUCHSURFING ISN’T TINDER. WILL NOT ADD YOU IF I HAVEN’T MET YOU IN PERSON AT AN EVENT OR TRAVELING. THANKS.

Flashback: it's 2010. I left my hometown of Kuala Lumpur for a university stint in Melbourne and never looked back. Montage: Moving to Melbourne changed my life. I used to be a hermit crab, but now this hermit is out of her shell having a party! I've since travelled elsewhere on solo trips and i'm hungry for more. Cut to the present: I'm currently back in Kuala Lumpur learning the ropes in the digital industry and looking to eventually make my way back to Australia or a working holiday elsewhere in the world! In my free time i'm an aspiring yogini, storyteller, reader, fitness instructor and full-time coffee addict. I've been told i'm the best companion for an epic meal, long chats over a cup of coffee, or grabbing a pint or two, but then i've also been told that I get distracted easily and swear too much for a girl (and to that I say fuck that!)... so you be the judge, I guess. Otherwise I spend my days being the best person I can be. As they say, never give up, it's a wonderful life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CS has given me life-long friends in a city where I would have felt very alone otherwise. It has taught me how to be open to other nationalities and different people from different nations- something I wouldn't have learnt otherwise from my rather sheltered upbringing, and that is invaluable to me.

It has also taught me to be wary of who I trust, and that not everybody is who they say they are. On the other hand, it has also taught me that everybody has a story to tell, and not make judgements until you give them a chance.

Most importantly it has given me the courage to travel by myself as a woman, and knowing that I am not alone as I will meet people along the way!

Some of the most memorable events i've been to

- celebrated New Year's day 2010 in the heart of Kuala Lumpur in KL with surfers
- CS Melbourne CouchCrash Graffiti party
- Capture the Flag by moonlight
- cheap ice cream parties @ Vic Mart
- Future Music Festival 2013
- CS aperitivo meetup in Rome
- Going on a MASSIVE food tour in Berlin with a friend id just made two days before off CS
- shown people around Melbourne, my fave city in the world!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I could teach you how to cook Malaysian food!

Learn: I'd love to learn how to cook your favourite recipe, please and thank you!

Share: I could impart my wisdom on how to successfully navigate against the flow of Melbourne commuters wielding umbrellas at rush hour, if you'd like, but then you would also require a) a bigger umbrella or b) ninja skills, or c) an AFL ruckman/quarterback friend who also happens to be 200-pounds of muscle...

What I Can Share with Hosts

An insight into Malaysian culture, as well as sharing my love of food and dance and music. And wine and beer. Of course.
