ABOUT ME

From the East Coast (Philadelphia) and have been fortunate enough to live a lot of great places and meet a lot of great people :) Living in WDC and have been for just over a year.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that anyone can change themselves if they want and that being appreciated for being yourself is something everyone should experience.
I think the best relationships and the best lives are made by unselfishness...more than just not being selfish but actively trying to make other people happy. The more you give, the happier you will feel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The Couchsurfing community has given me so much and I just want to return the favor! Can't wait to have my own place so I can finally host, but in the meantime I'd be so happy to make recommendation or show someone around if time allows (and you like dogs).

I love meeting new people and I genuinely want to help people explore my region! I've used couchsurfing to make good friends, to find homes in Barcelona and to teach yoga there; and to connect to people in Spain, Edinburgh, Turkey, and the U.S. :)

Interests

I am an amateur film director and crewmember. I have a lovely, crazy mutt that I hike with everywhere. I'm close to my family, so I visit Philadelphia frequently.

Permanent: Art, music (live!), books and t.v. shows, writing, yoga, dance, sometimes sports (both types of football in the lead), history, politics.

Reading Game of Thrones and Shantaram.
Love James Joyce, Faulkner, Rachel Cusk.
New Music: Right now I just experienced some of the best concerts of my life at Coachella: Beirut, Bon Iver, and Florence and the Machine. I am really into electronic remixes right now...It's kind of a problem-- for my hearing. I love Beats Antique. I'm into Miike Snow, Azealea Banks, The Weekend, Tuneyards. I have a soft spot for hard hip hop (Method Man and Mr. Smalls) and french music (Nouvelle Vague, Yelle).
Last movies that rocked were Black Swan and Revolutionary Road. Also 21 Jump St was pretty hilarious..Love Jonah Hill...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw the mountain guerillas, ahem, GORILLAS, in Uganda. Amazing, amazing experience. Kicked every safari's ass, even though all they do is pretty much sit around, eat and play with themselves (not so different, eh?). I swear I saw one of them thinking about God...no I'm not effing with you...

Teach, Learn, Share

What am I teaching, learning and sharing...well, I am teaching ESL-- and finding that I really enjoy it. I teach yoga, and a practice it on my own quite frequently.

I am learning about Sufism, more about yoga, and about dance-- all of which are big contributors to my life lately.

I'm not sure exactly what sharing refers to, but shared new experience seems to be the best thing...or failing that, I would say laughter and something to eat!
