CURRENT MISSION
To connect with "strangers" and make friends!
ABOUT ME
Hello there! My name is Kelsie and I'm a 29 year old lesbian. During the school year I am a Preschool Teacher for a charter school in Salt Lake City. During the summers, I like to either travel around or find someplace cool to work. This year I am in Cooper Landing, Alaska and loving it. It's a super small town which I'm not used to, but it has some beautiful sights. I am meeting a lot of great people, and I'm finding summers in Alaska are a lot like a summer cap for adults. People from all over the place coming to live together for a summer:) I love building connections- whether it be with people, animals, plant life, or other living things- I get so much fulfillment out of these connections that I would really like to renew my focus to these connections!
"I am one of the searchers. There are, I believe, millions of us. We are not unhappy, but neither are we really content. We continue to explore life, hoping to uncover its ultimate secret. We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like to walk along the beach, we are drawn by the ocean, taken by its power, its unceasing motion, its mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests and mountains, deserts and hidden rivers, and the lonely cities as well. Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as is our laughter. To share our sadness with one we love is perhaps as great a joy as we can know -unless it be to share our laughter. We searchers are ambitious only for life itself, for everything beautiful it can provide."

PHILOSOPHY
I believe if you're grateful for the things you have- more good will come your way. I believe that if you do the things that make you happy, the world will be happy with you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I fell in love with Couch Surfing last year, although I was a member long before that. I started traveling with the intention of going one place for a one month period, and ended up visiting 14 States, multiple cities, and meeting hundreds of people from all over the US. I participated in 3 Couch Crashes (which are now my favorite thing), had hundreds of cool experiences, and am so happy and grateful for all of the opportunities that Couchsurfing has given me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Sun Tunnels by Nancy Holt continues to be my favorite place. It is a summer solstice event in the Great Basin Dessert. There are these huge concrete tunnels in the middle of the dessert, and the sun rises and sets in the center of them. It is amazing to see, and at night the stars are breath taking! Going to the sun tunnels always makes me feel extremely connected, and the experience is always a powerful one. I can't get enough of this place!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to teach, and I love to learn. I have been a teacher for eleven years, and I can't see myself doing anything else long term. I really love those magical moments when I am able to teach a child something beyond the text books. The thing I love to teach most is kindness, and next to that self love.
