About Me

Howdy Friend!

Right now I’m in Hanoi staying with my family and would love to meet travelers and hear their experiences of my country!

My name is Nam Chu Hoai, I'm from Berlin, Germany and on my quest to see the world. I first branched out to see the world by going to college in Boston and from there have been very fortunate to have been in a position to see plenty of our places around the world. After finishing college, I tried to do the whole digital nomad thing, stopped after a year and did the whole work like a normal person thing. Yet after 2.5 years, here I am again, the travel bug caught me and will go for a couple months on my way to South America, Asia, Europe and hopefully Africa!

I'm super open and friendly and respectful, and always want to reach out for new experiences. I think experiencing the world in all its weird facets makes travelling and life so great. Whether it's the bustling history of Rome or the west-texan desert, my goal is it to experience it all.

I really strongly believe in concepts that most people call Karma. Do good and good will come to you. It gives me the perfect balance between conscious freedom and guidance/purpose in life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have had the great fortune of being able to stay with some awesome hosts to really reach the next level in traveling. It's just a way of traveling and connecting with people, locals and travelers alike, that other options cannot give you.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music wise, im influenced by Berlin's great electro/minimal/house music

Like many people, too many movies to list, but I do like post-apocaliptic movies for some reason (I Am Legend e.g.)

I'm trying to become a better reader with mostly non-fiction, with the occasional fiction book here and there. Sapiens is a great book to give you a new perspective.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My best travel experience has been staying with Rachel in Manhattan, Kansas. She was super friendly and took us on a whirl tour through Kansas that included that largest ball of twine and experiencing farm life in Kansas, but especially the people of Kansas. Oh yeah, and there was a total solar eclipse too.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to share my knowledge of software, photography and the one magic trick I know (it's good, I promise). If you learn something every day, there is nothing you can't accomplish!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to think i'm decent company in conversation. I'm not a great cook, but definitely would like to do everything to help out my hosts. Or explore the local dining options :)
