About Me

Hi, we're Thea (26) and Michael (33).

We're a couple living in Dresden. We live together in a flat with a few of our friends (actually, that's how we met) and we're both very sociable people. We're not quite ready for the whole "Let's move together, have kids and a TV" shebang (although sometimes that's a serious option) and want to meet people and see places together on a more independent level.
We're both passionate about our jobs, but we also love free time. That's when we drink coffee, watch soccer, play table tennis or darts (depending on the weather), read books, watch TV series and enjoy spending time with our friends and family.

We both love traveling and can't wait to visit places together again, which we haven't done much during the pandemic for obvious reasons. We also look forward to hosting, but this will have to wait for a bit until cases of covid go down in our area and everyone in our flat feels comfortable with that again.
We're both vaccinated and got our booster. We don't think covid is a hoax and try to be responsible people.

We're headed for North America from May-August and we can't wait to discover the East Coast.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We don’t only want to visit places, but we want to get to know people. Michael has used couchsurfing for ten years now, both as a surfer and as a host and made tremendous experiences by way of this platform. Thea is new to the game, but already intrigued. We have both learned that what really sticks with you in your travels is not the 84th church you visit but the moment when a stranger turns friend.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Boy Harsher, Efterklang, Patti Smith, Joy Division, The Cure, PJ Harvey, Portugal. The Man,

Movies: not very easy to find much common ground here, but a movie that we both absolutely adore is Mid 90s by Jonah Hill

Books: Thea loves stuff by Ferdinand von Schirach, detective stories, feminist literature (e.g. Liv Strömquist); Michael enjoys Jack London, Hermann Hesse, Yuval Noah Harari and Patti Smith

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing things we've done together: whale watching in the Caribbean, a roadtrip to Italy, clubbing in Manchester (what a cool city that is!)

Teach, Learn, Share

We try to maintain a vegan diet and we'd love to cook for you if you wish so. Thea's Spaghetti Carbonara is quite awesome.
On a more theoretical level, Michael is a nerd for (but not necessarily an expert on) religion, American history and Punk. Thea can teach you a lot about communication skills, social justice and gin tonic.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We'd just love to chat and laugh. We're really doing this because we want to get to know people and spend some time together. But of course we also respect your privacy and we understand that it's not always possible for hosts to be there. We'd be happy to contribute in any way that's authentic, e.g. by cooking a meal, providing drinks or just trying to be good company :)
On a practical level we try not to cause you any work.
