About Me

Hi, my name is Sascha, I'm a German🇩🇪 born, Spain raised🇪🇸, USA living🇺🇸, world enthusiastic🇪🇺🌍 adult who never wanted to grow up.

I currently reside in Philadelphia in a small 2 bedroom house and will welcome anyone who I have the time to host, share values with and writes me a funny, funky couch request!

I love dance (Salsa and Bachata💃🕺), sports🏂, carpentry, arts, cooking and many other things. My days are usually filled with work, activities, friends and good food🥗🌮🥑🍍.

I'm very energetic, do not drink (other than for very special occasions), have tried almost no drugs, I tried to smoke some weed with friends but didn't felt anything 🤔, and prefer to walk and converse over watching TV, in fact I do not owe a television or Netflix account (though I do watch movies). I'm a big technology geek🎮🕹️ and adore Google features (yes I'm aware of the flip side). I was a big computer/ console gamer but those are memories of the past though I love some WoW chit chat 😎

I owe a small business related to real estates🏙️, construction🏗️ and management🐒. My business partner is the traditionalist and hard working backbone while I am the innovator, crazy idea finder and rule bender! Want to learn more, ask me :)!

I believe we never stop changing, we just take decision that will structure our life. I'm 30 now and feel like I've never wanted to learn as much as now🤘. I love to have reaponsabilities, to take my own decisions and decide the journey of my life. I am well aware that I was born privileged and learned through life lessons that life isn't perfect but that a positive attitude, a smile and respectfulnes towards other will open more doors than anything else.
A much wiser person once said: "the pen is mightier than the sword", and so I believe too. We live in a wonderfully complex world with more humans, more resources to travel, more access to knowledge than we ever had before and I sincerely believe that traveling (not to take Selfies or party- nothing against fun) is the most wonderful way to open your eyes about what's around you. To learn about other cultures, to learn, to respect, share, love and feel compassion for our environment and those humans we share this one planet with.

I'm a big enemy of our Western Media Giants and always pledge that people should go and see by themselves. I've heard from many people than I've meet that IRAN is a super hospital country and is far up my travel list. I've experienced the friendship of MEXICAN families beyond what I thought possible and will always recommend it as my current favorite country.
If I would ever find a magical lamp and get one wish it would be that we learn to see beyond our plates and open our eyes towards one another. There are enough resources in this world, there are ways to live together in peace and it is up to us to make a change. I hope I didn't gave you a wrong impression about myself, I do have a job, a small house and do believe that if you worked for it you should have the right to keep it too. But I also believe that we need to do so while helping us forward hand in hand, not while pushing others down.

--- Accomodation ---
My place is on the boarder with southwest Philly and undergoing a lot of development, if you are someone easily scared check the area with Google Maps before. There are 2 trolley lines within 10 minutes walking and the city is 25 minutes by public transport and 20 minutes by Bicycle, the closest shared Bike station is 10 minutes walking.

--- Couchsurfing etiquette ---
DO NOT WRITE ME, IF! you are coming just to stay for free, if you are coming to party and don't care about the place, or for a work conference / layover. I do not expect anything in return, I have stayed with many people around the globe but I appreciate Couchsurfing for what it means to me, a place where travelers share stories, experiences and help each other out exploring this wonderful world!

--- The Geek ---
My geek part is called Warhammer 40K, a hobby I have played for ages and eats up your money and time. On the other side you will find friends/ buddies where ever you go and provides one of the most fantastic tabletop game experiences you can imagine.

--- Food, wohoo FOOD! ---
I am Vegetarian with a tendency to Vegan (if it would not be for that good french/ Spanish cheese 🧀....).

--- Special request for CYCLISTS ---
If your bike touring and coming through Philly you will always find a warm shower, accomodation and a full refrigerator, in short be my guest.

--- PHILOSOPHY ---
ºBe the change you wish to see in the world
º We should not be afraid of that our dreams seem to be impossible to reach, we should be afraid of that our dreams are to easy to reach!
º Rather an Oops than, What if!

--- thanks for reading, your officially nuts!!---

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing because I wanted to meet people, find different kinds of accomodation and learn the way of others.

I see Couchsurfing as a giant community, something that if used right can be wonderful, I love the sharing aspect of it, to allow people to travel on a budget and still enjoy places they could otherwise not afford.

I love to share my food, life and adventures with similar minded people and to learn from each other.

Some remarks I do have!
- Couchsurfing is NOT a 🚹DATEING WEBSITE🚺💢!!!
I do not appreciate anyone using it for this purpose, though I know many stories of people who found love or life partners through it and I'm beyond happy for those who did and what ever happens between two consenting adults is perfectly fine with me! 🚻🌈

I kinda prefer people who are using Couchsurfing to culturally-travel, I do not mind people that are traveling on a budget neither do I mind to help you out.

I do not enjoy if you use couchsurfing as a free place to stay while going to a concert or similar or just crush for a night.

Interests

If you got through my interest list you got a good picture of what I like, I love to be active, to dance, run and swim. On the other side I'm a cave dweller, playing games, following a quest through dungeons and dragons or rolling dice over a fantasy inspired tabletop game called Warhammer.

I think to further dwell into the depth of my interest it might be easier to describe what I do not like.
Crazy amount of Selfies📸 , to have your phone on you while talking to me or others📵, excessive drinking or drugs, overly zealous religious people, but most important of all, if you put any values over the life's of others and mindlessly don't care about our environment, species or disrespect by gender, sexuality, religion or color!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music, Oh, you got me in this one, ever thought your sister can't remember the lyrics of a song? Well you haven't met me :o! Music-Groups I can mention because Google reminds me: La oreja de van Gogh, Anastacia, Armin Van Buuren, Nightwish.

Movies: I love watching them, can't remember them. I do not appreciate vulgar language and enjoy if they make me think, though if they just have a big bang and no story I'm fine with it too. Queen of katwe, hotel Budapest, The dark Knight, Lord of the rings.

Books: Horus Heresy, Brave new world, Dan brown, The strategist, and others........,....,...

Teach: Rock climbing, Snowboarding, Boardgames, fixing your bike, Warhammer, Cocktails and how to make a Cappuccino hearth for somebody special.

Learn: about world politics and what makes you happy in life

Learn: languages!

Share: Socks!¡ (Don't know why, when I'm traveling I always run out of socks first)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Home repairs. If I'm surfing with you and you have anything that needs a handy person, around the house or garden let me know, I will be extremely happy to help!! (If you let me know in advance we can even work on some renovations, materials or tools required!!)

A meal, all good conversation start with some good food and I would be honored if I may cook for us, let me know your preference and I will try to make it happen.

Dance, I can teach you to Salsa and Bachata dance.

Stories, I had the wonderful luck of being the son of an incredible travel enthusiastic mother, and it spilled over. I've had the privilege to live in many countries and travel to even more and learned a lot on the way. I've travel over 20.000km (16.000 miles) on bicicyle around Canada, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Germany, Poland, Belarus and Russia. I've worked in many places and know how to travel on a dirt cheap budget as well as enjoying some amazing food under the stars while looking down on the ocean. In short, I love stories and will share them with you enthusiastically!

Sports, sitting the winter I'm very engaged in rock climbing, mountain biking and snowboarding. For the summer I'm usually to be found hiking, swimming, bike touring and hopefully surfing.
