My mission has always been to find the juice in life.

ABOUT ME

Grew up all over the world - Philippines, Hawaii, Morocco, Scotland. Went to high school in London. Joined the Navy, became a nuclear missile tech on submarines, got out as a conscientious objector. Lived in a commune in Virginia. Traveled to India to hang out with a guru where I got the name Akash. Came back to live in a commune in Oregon. Moved to Marin County (just north of the Golden Gate bridge) Been here for 23 years refining my social skills and trying to understand better this wild world we live in. I'm vegetarian, nonsmoker, not into inebriants these days, though I don't have a problem with others doing their thing.

PHILOSOPHY

I see life as a balance manifested in the marriage between spirit and matter. Matter (and the dark side of the force) is as precious and important to me as our spirit. I endevor to make my dance through this incredible, juicy experiment as graceful and loving and wild as possible. I don't need a group of like minded people (a religion) to be religious. And when ever I am able to, I work to forgive myself and others when things get out of balance. Fun and learning and growth are very important to me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My renter Jory Prum turned me onto this scene recently. I just thought he had a lot of friends. The people have all been good and interesting and respectful of my property. I tell everyone about CS now.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Did a lot of hitchhiking and couch surfing when I was younger though they didn't call it that then. I always managed to attract to me good people so my experiences were all good if not excellent. Wasn't as much fear back then.

Interests

At the moment I'm most interested in human motives and how we all make choices. Past interests have been, rockets, helicopters, girls, synthesizers, gardening, hiking, computers, relationships, windsurfing, scuba diving, Frisbee ultimate, electronics, house building, solar panels, motorcycles, group experiences, massage, meditation, dancing... well really, pretty much everything... except how to be a politician.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While in India, which is amazing in itself, at age 25 I got to a place where I was begging on the street for a couple of weeks for food. It humbled me and reset my expectation levels for life so that problems are really never so big. Food to eat, a place to sleep, and a healthy body. Everything else is a luxury.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I have taught officially: Computers, CAD, 3d modeling and animation, relationships. Things I like teaching are: how to teach yourself anything, how human sexuality and unconscious behavior works. Things I'd like to learn: Calculus (my high school teacher was horrible)
