About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be inspired, express myself, and connect with like minds.

ABOUT ME

I am an artist. I am an educator. I love the earth. I love forests and the sea. Some of my favorite things include running through fields under the moon, singing next to the ocean, sitting on trees that have fallen over a creek, wandering until I find a waterfall, swimming at night, tree climbing, rock climbing, being barefoot, mountain biking, beating the boys at pull-ups, playing the guitar and the violin, singing. I enjoy getting into adventures. I am open-minded, patient, and enjoy good philosophical discussions.

PHILOSOPHY

The only mistake is the one where I don't learn anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I travel I want to get a real taste of local life. I love to meet and adventure with the people living there. As far as hosting goes-I would like to host travelers interested in visiting the national forest in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia or going on rock climbing adventures in my local area but I love to make friends from all over so please-give me a shout!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did my first CouchSurfing in Ireland where I stayed in Limerick and Dublin. Both of the people I stayed with were extremely kind and helpful. I had great conversations and got to go places I might not have thought to visit. They made me realize that CouchSurfers are some of the most interesting people a person could meet!

Interests

I am crazy about rock climbing. I have about 4 years experience. I am also a mountain biker, hiker, and runner. I enjoy anything that involves a physical challenge--especially in the outdoors. I am interested in projects related to improving the health of natural and human ecology, education, and art.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently-I am eating up the tales of Freda Warrington--excellent fantasy writer. Her Aertherial tales are amazing!
Juliet Marillier is also one of my favorite fantasy authors. I have read almost everything she has written! She needs to write more!
Books on travel, philosophy, ecology, and education.

Music..Delerium and Stone Temple Pilots to name just two of my favorites--I also adore Celtic fiddle music

Movies...Avatar, Lord of the Rings, The Neverending Story, The Princess Bride, any comedy no matter how ridiculous

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of the most amazing things I have ever seen were when I lived in the countryside in Virginia. I lived on 1000 acres in a house with no running water or indoor plumbing. I split wood to burn for heat. I learned to be very self sufficient and saw many amazing things. Some of the most beautiful were: coming home to find that the sky was filled with bright twinkling stars, flashes of heat lightning, and lighting bugs blinking everywhere as far as the eye could see--my entire world was a blur of twinkling light illuminating the night...then there was the time I awoke to find that every single blade of grass in the fields surrounding my house held a large spider web covered in dew that caught the light just as the sun was coming up causing the entire valley to glisten like a million sparking diamonds...I can not begin to explain how beautiful it can be where I live. I want to go see other beautiful places and share this place with others.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share improvisational music and art. I enjoy spontaneous hikes and journeys in nature. I have knowledge about climbing, playing the violin, and working with children. I can teach Science.
