About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To feed my travelbug at least once a year!

ABOUT ME

Ever since I backpacked on my own through parts of Eastern Europe, I have been taken with the pleasure of solo travel. The chance to meet new people, foster new connections, soak in new cultures and be part of new experiences - it's awesome. It makes you feel like you're truly part of this big world. It makes you feel alive.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep on learning. And don't stop believing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is more about getting to know people from different parts of the world and seeing things from another perspective, than just a couch to sleep on.

More and more, I feel that this is close to the notion of paying it forward. You do something good and you hope that your actions will move people to do the same for others. And in so doing, lead to a greater understanding of just how small our world can be and how much we have in common.

Also, in some small way, the kindness shown to me really does help restore my faith in people. Because there is so much out there in the world right now that is depressing and sometimes I wish I never have to know it and never have to process it all. And yet, sometimes what it takes is just one kind heart to change it all. I've learned from CS that there really are a lot of good people out there.

When making a request for me to host, please use the CouchRequest function and not the Message function. I generally don't reply to those unless you are outstandingly interesting. Please try not to Copy and Paste your request - I would then spend the same amount of time replying you as you did in sending your CouchRequest, if you know what I mean.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with a few wonderful people in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon during my first CS experience. And then subsequently in East Malaysia, Barcelona, Lisbon and Tokyo.

Have hosted some great people here in Singapore as well.

Interests

I enjoy
- watching movies especially more arthouse fare as well as foreign films
- reading books about the world and globalisation (and its ills) because even though I work in the finance industry, I believe that capitalism and human nature (like greed) do not mix well and result in a lot of social ills - probably a little bit socialist at heart (don't let that scare you off) ,
- listening to rock music and checking out indie acts
- finding out about new destinations to go to, plenty of places in this wonderful world to check out
- drinking and eating (like any true blue Singaporean), I love trying out new eating places as well as different types of food, though I do get squirmish with the livers and the intestines and the kidneys of animals
- I enjoy talking to travellers about their adventures and the places they have seen
