Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I married my last Australian CS host. Scott and I CSed on our honeymoon, and we host in our home. We enjoy sharing the diverse world with our three children.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience: A travelling companion and I met a fellow at an internet cafe in Besancon, France, who offered us a place to stay. We were skeptical, until he showed us his profile with reviews, introduced us to his live-in girlfriend and showed us their flat. I stayed a week, had a key to the place and made them French toast. It was a week to remember, except the parts I don't.

Interests

I'm wild about the outdoors! I love to read and write and cook and BBQ and bake!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In April, 2013, my husband and I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon along glorious outlooks, cooled our feet in the Colorado River and spent the night in separate bunk houses at Phantom Ranch. We started hiking out again at 7:15 the next morning in t-shirts and shorts, complaining that we had brought warm layers we didn't need or use and were now carrying out uphill. By 10:30, we were pulling on all of our layers on the trail, and when we finished the hike at noon, we had inches of snow on our hats! It was extraordinary!
In Winter 2011, I met a group of new friends and spent 3 days snowshoeing near Mount Rainier in Washington State. We celebrated Hanukkah, made delicious soup from snow, sat in awe at the sunrise over the Cascade Mountain range, and spent evenings reading to each other around the fire.
