About Me

I've lived at the North Entrance to Yellowstone for 23 amazing years; born and raised. I finished my bachelors in Environmental Science in St. Louis and more recently my Masters in Chemical Ecology in Syracuse, NY. I love my home in Montana where I can ski, hike, swim, climb, run, and whatever else my heart desires and hope to live permanently in a place that can offer the same! I've had jobs all over the country, and recently finished a bike tour across most of North America. I'm currently searching for jobs in my field of training while holding service industry work to meet the bills.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've used couchsurfing as a way to travel and connect. Meeting locals and learning about the land, while also acting as a local, showing visitors around, has been a wonderful dynamic of couchsurfing that I hope to continue for many years. I first began by searching for a couch in Chicago while I was at Lollapalooza and had an excellent experience with Meaghan, who hosted myself and a friend I was traveling with. Then I took a few people on hikes in Yellowstone as they were passing through on vacation. I've surfed in Kona, HI as I was looking for local guides and in Colorado for a Red Rocks show. I love the trust created with strangers and the opportunity for travel.

Interests

Pretty much anything outdoors and sports. I love volleyball and running, hiking, backpacking, climbing, camping, rafting, yoga, and skiing, but really enjoy trying new things. I also love food. Food is good.

Music, Movies, and Books

Many interests in this department! Let's talk about it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently my bike tour has really been on my mind, quite the opportunity for introspection.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to safely deal with wild bear encounters. And if you want to know how to navigate the delicate thermal areas of places like Yellowstone without falling through the crust of the earth, I've got you covered. I've been picking up climbing and am very interested to learn more! I am also fascinated by the ocean; probably because I know so little about it, living in mainly landlocked states.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I share a sarcastic sense of humor, a love for food and exploration, a desire to learn more about outdoor sports, and a passion for snow, sun, clear swimming holes, and wildflowers!
