ABOUT ME

Here's a "25 random things" note I did for facebook that's a pretty good glimpse into my life :)

1. I am a father - an incredibly wonderful blessing, responsibility, relationship and ultra-mega source of joy.

2. I am in love.

3. I feel “believe” is a cornerstone of happiness and inner peace. To test this theory, start by thoroughly believing in yourself, then extend that to everyone you love. My house had an 8 foot long illuminated “believe” sign on the front of it that my son and I made.

4. My dog Mocha is a happiness, positive energy and unconditional love super radiator!

5. I'm spontaneous. (aka - I have the attention span of a squirrel on RedBull.)

6. The concept of “family” evolved for me, and in the last 3 years, it has come full circle, thanks to meeting the love of my life Lisa Ann Thomas!

7. I’m getting better at staying in touch with people – Facebook really helps!

8. When I start out on a bike ride it feels like wings grow from my back. For me the bicycle is a material embodiment of adventure and freedom. I love riding and can’t ever seem to get enough.

9. I'm a sustainability nut. I could write a ton about this but in a nutshell I invest myself in sustainability practices and promotion to ensure that our grandchildren and beyond will inherit a beautiful healthy earth.

10. I have a cool adventure motorcycle and I'm trying to figure out if I’m a motorcyclist. Every time I'm on my motorcycle and I pass someone on a bicycle I feel jealous!

11. I’m super celebratory. What’s that? You finally found you car keys! Let’s celebrate! The best are surprise birthday celebrations, and to be completely certain it’s a surprise I recommend throwing someone a birthday party on a date that’s nowhere near their birthday!

12. I'm pretty sure we’re all eternal (but if this is all there is, that’s cool too – I'm having a great time).

13. Somewhere inside me is a musician. I love singing and playing guitar and I'm working on giving that gift to myself more.

14. When I feel fear or nervousness I almost always have an involuntarily half-smile reaction because I know something juicy is about to go down.

15. I cry tears of touch (tots) very very easily. I used to get really embarrassed about it but now I don’t care. Though it’s common for people to see tears in my eyes, like at the end of the movie “Step Brothers” for example, and give me a WTF look. That makes me laugh!

16. I'm really shy and quiet when I'm getting to know people – and that’s sometimes mistaken for aloofness or conceit, but once I feel close to and comfortable around people it becomes abundantly obvious that I'm a goofy big kid being remotely controlled by grass smoking flying monkeys.

17. I don’t believe in mistakes and I have zero regrets.

18. I can accomplish anything I put my feelings to, and you can to.

19. The cops showed up at my parent’s house because I'd been riding my BMX over people’s cars. Twice. So inconsiderate! Looking back at this and other experiences from my youth gives me a lot of compassion for kids that do stupid stuff.

20. In my seemingly never ending quest to find out what limits are real and which ones are thought illusions I sometimes get injured.

21. I love waiting. Long lines, traffic, doctor’s offices – I'm on the go a lot so I view waiting for whatever as a mini-vacation. It gives me a chance to slow down for a bit.

22. My sister and I were both adopted. Not *abducted* by aliens as many have suspected. Though when a fictional (bullshit) story is more interesting and fun than the truth I often tell (or create) the latter.

23. I like almost everyone I meet and I rarely write or talk about deficiencies in others. Life’s too short. Plus, when I even begin to sense a “deficiency” in someone else I know it’s just an indication that there’s something about me that I’m uncomfortable with.

24. My parents gave me the freedom and support to become me – as scary as that proposition appeared at times. My sister inspires me, makes me laugh and talks sense to me in a way I can hear – I'm so glad the universe brought all our lives together.

25. I’ve made a living by enriching people’s lives through the sport of tennis for the last 17 years. Not too shabby!

I just connected with this concept / community a few months ago and now I host and surf pretty much every chance I get! I love meeting and spending time with people.
