CURRENT MISSION

I'm a healthy, inquisitive, open-minded person who's interested in engaging in life, not coasting through it. It is, after all, a ride and a mystery. Live it!

I am in what I have come to call my "4th Quarter" and find travel and travelers fascinating. If you need a clean, comfortable, safe place to stay, feel free to contact me. I look for the same things when I'm on the road. (Hotels and motels are usually boring.)

ABOUT ME

The vitality, energy and inquisitiveness of young people reminds me of the days when I did a lot of traveling myself. Now, after ending my radio career, I'm at it again, traveling, looking for opportunities to volunteer, have fun, chill, and generally engage in life.

Over the past few years I've hosted many guests from many places. Some have been "formal" Couchsurfers (now there's an oxymoron), some have been friends of friends, some have been Airbnb guests, and some have been people who just needed a little help.

After completing an 8-month road trip myself in 2017, I moved from Raleigh, NC (after 25 years), and headed to the mountains of Western NC. I built a small house in a rural area surrounded by natural beauty. Now that I've generally gotten settled, I'm again open to hosting travelers and wanderers, regardless of age, gender, nationality, or any other parameter. If you're a kind, curious, open-hearted person, we'll have something in common. If you're simply looking for a crash pad for a party, I'm not the guy.

I'm a semi-retired, single, energetic person who still likes adventure and thinks age is just a number. Maybe I'll see you the next time I'm on the road. Maybe I'll host you while I'm home. You'll have your own private room with a comfy bed.

PHILOSOPHY

It's all about the journey. I enjoy adding more experiences and moments to life. Everything else is just stuff that needs to get done.

There is a wisdom that resides in places and people. Couchsurfing is one way to connect with that wisdom and share it.

Interests

I like to listen, connect, hike, backpack, kayak and generally connect with nature. I am interested in people who think for themselves. (The endless drone of the media has become mostly just noise.) I'm also a big music fan and my tastes are rather eclectic. Good food is also a delight and I've been known to enjoy a good beer or bottle of wine. I'm also addicted to cappuccino, and make a mean one at home.
