About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Lost between infantile and senile, travelling around the world never to find the age of reason

Living a nomadic life, currently staying in Guatemala where life is beautiful, and people wonderful.

I'm a chilled lad, quiet and very sociable, fun and talkative, before prefere daylight to nightlife.
I love the outdoors, and shopping centres freak me out.
I hate air conditioning, automatic doors, and i'd rather avoid motor vehicles whenever possible.

I would like to start skateboarding... another possible way to travel?! :)

PHILOSOPHY

Honesty, modesty, optimism.
Life is for discovering, meeting, building.

"Live and work as if you had eternity in front of you, knowing that you can die tomorrow". It's an old Arabic saying I came across in Syria, and that pretty much sums up my philosophy of life.

"Always look on the bright side of life". That's just because I'm a Monty Pythons fan!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosted twice in 2011 in Paris when I had my own place. Now traveling, so I'm surfin'!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sometimes it clicks sometimes it doesn't.

I had both types of experience. Hosts that you become friends with, and those you don't. But any new encounter is a good experience, and you should always give it a try!

Interests

Travel, outdoor sports and activities (cross-country cycling, paragliding, trekking, skating).

Graphic arts, music, opera, video games.

Communication and language (from typography to ethymology). Bilingual in French and English.

Music, Movies, and Books

Monty Python's the Holy Grail, and Les Nuls La cité de la Peur, Austin Powers are my favorite comedies. Along goes Galaxy Quest and Spaceballs.

I especially love British culture and humour: The Flying Circus, Little Britain, AbFab...

Heavenly Creatures by Peter Jackson, as well as Braindead were revelations. Donnie Darko, Hiroshima mon Amour, Dr Strangelove, Nightmare before Christmas, Ludwig are cult movies.
Hal Hartley, Woody Allen, Orson Welles, Peter Greenaway, Roman Polanski are amoungst my favorite directors.

My tastes in music are just as eclectic: Bjork, The Strokes, Hawksley Workman, Nina Simone, Blur, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Skunk Anansie, Gossip, Supertramp, Petula Clark, Muse, Wagner, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Marianne Faithfull... well, you get my point.

As for books, I never was a fine reader. Nietzsche, The Divine Comedy, Jane Austen were the last ones I read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The last amazing wonderful places and people I've seen are Guatemala (especially Tikal and lake Atitlan), and Syria. The people there were just the most welcoming, helping, hospitable, honest I had ever seen.

2013 addition: 3-day trek in Kyrgyzstan, crossing the border from Kyrgyzstan to China, were two particularly adventurous moments of my life during my last year's travels.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn anything from people. My idea of CouchSurfing is also to meet and learn from hosts or guests. I'm particularly full of admiration for people who can sing, play an instrument, write, make and build things...

My skills are more practical and technical.
I am very good at organizing, structuring, putting things in order. I know how to communicate and publish on the Web, and I know a lot about travel and tourism.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Réunion, Syrian Arab Republic, Thailand, United States, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
