ABOUT ME

Just a friendly, easy-going guy who likes to read and talk to people from all over the world. I'm 35 years old and work as a teacher in Umeå, Sweden. My subjects are English and Swedish which suits me fine since my biggest interests are literature, writing and languages. I also like jeans and houses.

I once wrote a book but it didn't make any money. My parents liked it though.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I came in contact with CS a couple of years ago when I went to Spain with a friend. We surfed there and I have also hosted a couple of great guys and girls in my apartment.

In 2011 I couchsurfed my way from New York to Los Angeles, with a friend. We stayed with some amazing people along the way. In 2013 I went alone for another trip to the Southern states and 2014 I dit it again with one of my best friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Eating pancakes with blueberry syrup in Nancy's kitchen in Virginia. And two years later: returning to Nancy for another plate of pancakes! And many many more great memories...

Today I do most of my traveling with my good friend Chris, whom I met through couch surfing.

Musica, film e libri

Some of my favourite authors are: Roberto Bolaño, Carson McCullers, Ernest Hemingway, Karl-Ove Knausgård, Fyodor Dostoyevsky and a bunch of Swedish writers. The main reason I like travelling through the southern states is because of the books by McCullers and other literary giants like Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor and Truman Capote.

Music: Neil Young, Courtney Marie Andrews, Modest Mouse, Jason Isbell, Israel Nash Gripka, John Moreland, Tallest Man on Earth, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, The National, Townes van Zandt, Håkan Hellström, Bon Iver, Deportees, First Aid Kit, Bob Dylan.

Films: Sideways, The Station Agent, A Love Song for Bobby Long, Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus. (I also have a man crush on post-Titanic Leonardo DiCaprio, especially in Blood Diamond.)

TV: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Portlandia, The Wire, Twin Peaks, Veep, Seinfeld. And god damn True Detective was good! Season 1 that is, season 2 was an abomination.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Running the Dubai Marathon and reading James Joyce's Ulysses (not at the same time). Two painful experiences that really made me question the meaning of it all.
