À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

I am a happy and happily married woman, on the road a lot with my work and missions, and love to meet new friends.

ABOUT ME

I am easy-going and handy (Carpenters daughter) Being self-employed, I get to travel a lot with work, but rarely get to "do life" with people. I am looking for couch-surfing experiences that lead to lasting friendships. While my heart is in the country, I also can survive big-city life easily as well. I'm a Christian who takes her faith seriously, but lives by the Golden Rule and is not judgmental. I'm a chatty girl with a quiet, gentle husband.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others what you want them to do unto you. Value other people, their uniqueness. Every moment is a treasure. Live life to the fullest but do it in a way that adds value to those around you. Don't be selfish. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% what you DO with what happens to you.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I have done a lot more couchsurfing than just this site. Here are some ways I can "give back."
I can do lots of carpentry/power tools type stuff. I am happy to earn my keep. I am a decent cook as well. My travels have afforded me many unique stories, too. I love to tell jokes and make you laugh. But I know how and when to be pensive. Life is not a joke, and I have had opportunities to just "be there" for friends and strangers going through hard times. I relish these opportunities too.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have made some amazing friends over the years. Everything from a Lutheran Pastor and his wife, to a cussing-smoking retired factory-rat who wouldn't go to church if you paid him. I can appreciate those who are both very similar and very different from me. As long as they appreciate me and there is mutual respect. I have the kind of personality where this comes easily to me. My motto: We don't have to AGREE to get along, but do let's agree TO get along!

Centres d'intérêt

Being raised in a farming area, I love animals of all kinds. I even got to help out in an exotic animal brokerage operation that supplies zoos. I have a little hobby farm with chickens, ducks, geese, quail and even peacock. As well as dairy goats. I am also creative, some of the work I like to play in is wood-- burning, ;carving, needle felting, photography, crafts and others. I love water, camping , fishing.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I'm more into writing than reading in general. I have helped edit 2 published books. I worked as a newspaper reporter for several years. I read some motivation books. I like movies, more into documentary. Don't like horror. Suspense is OK. Don't have TV but do Netflix. Shows I stream: Superhumans, Once upon a time, NCIS, Deadliest Catch, River monsters, extreme homes, Warehouse 13, Heroes, The sing off, Animal rescue shows (really any animal documentary )... But I prefer to "do life" than watch TV in general.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I have swam in a 30,000 gallon (3 stories tall) saltwater aquarium (while couchsurfing in FL) And swam in a "Cenote" while couch-surfing in Cancun. I have eaten the head of a fish and the foot of a chicken (while couchsurfing in the Dominican Republic) As part of my job, I have had a part in saving 48 lives. I've been on 7 mission trips, making 90 days in Spanish speaking countries. I kept a total stranger from becoming a "Jane doe" in Dallas... maybe even dying on the streets. Flew first class and stayed at Intercontinental for free (separate incidents where kindness paid off!)

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I like to teach crafts, techniques in Needle Felting or Psanky, perhaps? I also like to play unique board games (and don't forget table-top games) Such as King of Tokyo, Ticket to Ride, Castle Panic, Forbidden Island, Munchkin or Carcassone. I'd be happy to tote along one of my games and teach you.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I feel like I'm bragging to promise you that you'll have fun with me around, but it's the truth. I will bring light and fun to you, it's how I roll. People refer to me as someone who "shines" and sometimes "an old soul" and "a free bird" or rarely an odd duck lol... My favorite tag was from a friend on a mission trip who called me a sponge because I wanted to absorb all I could out of life. I love to exchange life stories. Especially funny ones.
