About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make every day a different experience.

ABOUT ME

About me... I'm curious about everything in the world, and wish I had time to learn about all of it. I make sure I travel somewhere adventurous every year. Every so often, I learn about something I know little about, whether it be classical music, the occult, autism, the history of Genghis Khan, etc. I've had a strong interest in filmmaking, and have taken it much more seriously as of late, working on creepy short films that will hopefully have some success in film festivals.Sadly, I don't do aikido anymore. Injured myself too much. But I don't want to change my name, despite wonderful suggested replacements such as "Error404" and "Chainsaw Juggler".Also, I've always had friends in other countries and love learning about the world through them. Getting a true taste of a foreign culture is much easier through a native, so I try to visit them and let them show me around. Always out to make more friends though. Its disappointing when I go somewhere and don't know anyone.Just some background, by the way... I've been in suburbia New Jersey almost all of my life but have recently moved to first the Boston area, and now New York City. Loving living in the city.

PHILOSOPHY

It's the principle that counts. Life without humor is not worth living. Always keep a bit of humility. Little steps can amount to big things. I live life because I am curious about it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and couchsurfed before, and attended/planned events but haven't had the opportunity much as of late. Couchsurfers are still invaluable to me as a gateway to a local's perspective when I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in the US and abroad. I've hosted a number of international folk and have also organized a bunch of CS events and have attended others! I was in the CS chatroom quite often too, while it existed, and have met many of those I've chatted with.

Interests

Obviously into traveling. I've been into computers since I was 7 but I prefer to be away from them often. Lately my big interest is filmmaking (inspired by The Ring). I'm also very into photography and have a building interest in astronomy. I tried learning Russian, for a number of years, but could not progress without more immersion. I was practicing aikido, but I hurt myself too much so I stopped. I love craft beer and used to brew my own.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite movies include Talk to Her, Passion of Joan of Arc, Memento, Pan's Labyrinth, On the Waterfront, Dogville, Celebration, Ikiru, and... The Fifth Element. In the rare instances I did karaoke, it's AC/DC or Gun's n' Roses. Books I remember most fondly are The Hobbit, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Angels and Demons.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Mount Fuji, directed movies, communicated with Russian-only speakers, skied in Lake Placid, parasailed and surfed (briefly) in Hawaii, floated along the Colorado in the Grand Canyon, and watched the top 250 movies on imdb.com.

Teach, Learn, Share

What can I teach? Although I like avoiding them, I'm pretty good with computers and can teach how to program and use an assortment of software. I've gotten handy with my camera and have also done my share of photo and video editing. I can pick out good beers, and, in terms of astronomy, I'm starting to get better at finding constellations and sometimes planets and comets.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Panama, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
