About Me

I don't know how to describe myself. Traveler, probably. I've been abroad a long time. I like roaming the world and then temporarily settling down in various places. If I could live long enough, I'd live in every country in the world for at least a year and every city for at least 6 months.

I'm also a writer of sorts. Or at least I used to be, but I'm getting into it again. I'm the sort who writes bits of poetry on napkins and hands and phones. I often don't like what I write, but all the same I love to share with other writers.

And I love stories. Love reading them, telling them and especially hearing them.

I can be very, very talkative and extroverted or quiet and contemplative. I'm often one of two extremes. An example: I’m currently trying to be a stand up comedian in Hanoi, but I also spend like 75% of my free time reading books.

Follow my adventures on instagram @a_frog_abroad!

P.S. I should add: though I've answered to both "albino" and "frog" in the not-so-distant past, my name is Maggie :)

Fun fact: In the past year, I’ve now run into not one, but two (!!!) separate Couchsurfers I hosted in New Orleans while living in Vietnam

Update: I'm in America for a bit. The pandemic, baby! It's a dice game I was winning up until recently, when all my dies came up 1s and I was forced to abscond from my beloved Vietnam. Cry for me (Argenitna or not). I could use some drinking buddies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I'm secretly an idealist.

Quick note: Please don't "friend" me if I haven't met you (or at least interacted with you to a great extent online). I'm not going to accept the request. I'm not *that* idealistic.

Music, Movies, and Books

ALL OF THE BOOKS. Seriously I read a lot. Mostly Asian, African and Middle Eastern novels (especially Nigerian authors! I’m really into Nigerian books). I also read sci-fi and fantasy occasionally too though, as well as interesting non-fiction books.

Weird science-fiction films

Hamilton

Overly complicated board games that mimic aspects of real life (but not farm games! never farm games!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've lived abroad for basically a decade

Teach, Learn, Share

Both psychology and anthropology have shown me that the human race is terrible and wonderful all at once. We're all beautiful and we're all ugly and it's brilliant, because that's what being human is.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Existential dread!

No! um...stories, certainly. Laughs, poetry, book recommendations and food you almost certainly shouldn't consume if I had any part in its preparation.

A tarot reading or two if that's your thing

And adventure! I'm very fond of spontaneous adventures.
