About Me

I'm a 27 year old Chicano from the Texas/Mexico border. I was raised unconventionally by a yoga instructor and a self-employed architect who instilled an importance of pursuing that which makes you happy. Growing up with a twin brother, I'm used to sharing everything from clothes, to friends, to highs and lows of life. In high school, I ran cross country which, in college, prepared me for cross country cycling, igniting a love for exploring a world beyond my daily experience. I believe that many of our mental afflictions can be solved by stepping outside ourselves and and exploring what we're afraid of. I'm currently producing my first feature documentary film, about what it looks like to grow up on the border.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whether I'm exploring a new place in the world, or making a home-cooked meal for a new friend, I love meeting people, and making new connections. As an aspiring filmmaker, work can be fickle making managing finances a balancing challenge. Couchsurfing provides accessibility to the, often prohibitive, privilege of travel. More importantly, it connects us to people and opens us to experiences that transcend social, cultural and political barriers in ways that would otherwise be difficult to find.

Interests

I love learning to cook new recipes and sharing them at family dinner, going to the movies with my homies or sometimes alone, not having to share popcorn. I like learning about the body and am interested in breathwork to heal ourselves. I love stories, listening to podcasts, reading or watching people tell them.
