About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live, love, learn, eat, explore, live some more.

ABOUT ME

Hey!

I'm Alex. My mates call me Kittens. I'm open minded and nerdy, and I love to kick back with good friends, especially around a campfire.

I'm passionate about my studies - I haven't given up the childhood dream to "change the world," - but I like to balance it out by going for a run, or doing something silly and light hearted, or maybe creative, like throwing paint around a room :D

I want to meet other humanists, but I'm open to all sorts of new experiences. I'm clean, friendly, responsible and usually fairly sane... In short, I make a good house pet :P

PHILOSOPHY

Still working this out, but I'm inspired by humanistic ideas. Maslow's Pyramid was akin to a spiritual icon for me for a long time, but now this understanding is evolving. "The more I learn the less I know"

I live because I choose too and because I got lucky. It feels great :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted here in Utrecht and when I get back to Melbourne I'll offer a couch there too. I've surfed on couches in Utrecht, Amsterdam and Paris (and hopefully now Berlin too!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few, I surfed with a few. Amsterdam, Utrecht, Paris, Melbourne, next stop Berlin :D

Interests

Social work, sociology, sex, pedagogy, psychology, y'know, Kittens-stuff.

I'm learning that I can choose how to interact with environment and part of this is about climbing, free-runing and more recently my discovery of magic and transcendentalism ... whatever the heck they are!

Wrestling with ideas, especially those connected to the human condition - I love to discuss with others and share culture, knowledge and ourselves.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Beach

Goodnight Mr Tom

John Marsden's books (An Aussie teen-fiction author whose had an impact on my life)

Infected Mushroom, Trance, Dubstep, Classical, Flute Music, 90s pop (my not so secret shame)

Too many textbooks! :(

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Great Ocean Road. Amazeballs.

Ice skated in Paris. The Notre Dame! A cat stuck on a snow covered roof! Seeing the sun rise after being sure that I would die ... It's gives a new sense of awe xD

I've camped beside Australian rivers and beaches ... To sit by a campfire all night talking with friends and then to look up at the stars (once your night vision returns) .... it's a lovely feeling. And camping with aboriginal Elders was such a treat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm learning how to be myself, and how the world works.

I can teach how to make candles (do you have an old saucepan?), and I'd love to share massage - both massaging and being massaged.

I want to learn how to heal.
