About Me

My favorite things: Good food, good friends, good family. I love meeting new people and find a trip is so much more worthwhile when you throw yourself into new surroundings with locals. I've lived a bit in Dakar, Senegal, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Seoul, South Korea. I have seven younger sisters and brothers so to me being in tight quarters with a pack of other people feels just like home.

This Fall I'll be moving to Boston to study International Education Policy at Harvard. I'm interested in education reform in post-conflict communities and the intersection of enterprise with self-led community development. Aside from that stuff, I love live music, exploring new places, meeting new people, being near the water, and above all, trying different foods.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a pretty beautiful thing. It brings amazing people together and honestly has made every experience abroad unforgettable for me.

As an example, one night in Paris, with nowhere to stay, my friend and I were at the last minute taken in by two Luxembourgish med students via couchsurfing. They showed us around their university, welcomed us in their dorm, and we all spent the night together watching the moon from the rooftop of their building. In Rome, Daniele introduced us to the rugged side of Italy, graciously taking us camping along with his friends down to the peninsula of Monte Argentario. Couchsurfing introduced me to many friends while living in Rio de Janeiro. It also brought me Ankita, my future roommate and best friend in South Korea. I love communities like this. So glad it exists.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam from land to an island in Africa covered in pink seashells, where fishermen pulled out yellowfin tuna and swordfish from the waters beneath our feet. One day on the island we shared a fresh catch of grilled eel and orange Fanta soda with fisherman whose language we didn't speak

Spent the night next to Notre Dame waiting for the sun to come up with a band of musicians

Snuck into Roman ruins at night

Sat in as the singular woman at a traditional sumo training session in Japan

Spent a day walking through the worst snow storm to hit Tokyo in 60 years

Teach, Learn, Share

We can practice our portuguese, spanish, french, or Wolof together.
