About Me

I would like to go backpacking in the next few years. I have particular interest in nature and culture. In the past few years I have been involved in research works particularly insects and spiders, which I would love to view their diversity in places I visit. Usually I am rather slow in making friends but once the ice is broken things normally turns OK.

Somehow I always fail to learn swimming.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe the best part of backpacking is to get immersed in the local society and Couchsurfing is an excellent platform for that. Apart from accessing knowledge on places, to actually view things from the perspective of the people within the locality is a great window in understanding where we are in this big world.

I am rather an introvert hence to honest I am not so sure how it will go but what the heck, to get out of one's comfort zone is the whole purpose of backpacking.

Interests

Though I have a lousy knees (thanks to ITBS), I enjoy running and hiking. I cannot swim but I enjoy snorkeling and hope to learn diving one day. I like photography especially macro. I am well-verse in arachnology (the study of spiders) and several families of insects.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mostly stuffs from mid 70s to mid 90s. Hahaha I know it sounds kinda old school thing. In terms of genre I like jazz, soft rock, J-pop and sax.

Movies: Romantic comedies from the 80s and 90s, anime, Star Wars and Simpsons.

Books: Thriller from Robert Ludlum, Fantasy (ie Dragonlance and Wheel of Time) and manga.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling for 4 months in Nova Scotia and Quebec.

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's get together and see what happens then.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am not a very experienced traveler hence I am probably not the best person to tell backpacking tales. I hope we will have a good time together.

At least, you will have a scientist in your house.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahrain, Canada, Indonesia, Laos, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Malaysia
