About Me

*Just changed profile picture to a pic taken in India (Udaipur) in Feb 2018... happy traveling! :))
* Second pic taken in Kazakhstan when I, completely by luck/surprise, was asked to play a tiny role in a Kazakh movie! :))

Hi fellow-travelers!!

Life is great isn't it..? :D
I made 4 big trips in the (recent) past but now back in Amsterdam! :)
Love doing/watching sports, traveling, photography, and meeting nice/fun/interesting travelers!

Ah, it's important that you don't require a 24-hours 'please hold your hand in crazy Amsterdam' kinda approach... although I assume most people here know their way around the globe and should be fine :)

Hmmm, cooking skills... unfortunately I'm not a great cook so I cannot provide you with some 'haute cuisine'. So I don't mind if you're a cooking genius... ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Great project, great idea, great people... life is great! :D

And be honest... why live in a 2-floor apartment by yourself when you can have nice and fun people joining you?!? :)

Interests

Sports, traveling (duh), talking, enjoying life!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: All-round, except boom-boom-boom...

Movies: A good thriller, a belly hurting comedy, a well played drama (from time to time) or just a feel-good movie... all are welcome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Haha, I think I'll have to mention a few more than just one... ;)

- Made 4 fantastic long backpack-trips (13+6+10+12 months)

- Cycled(!) from Amsterdam to Kazakhstan! Amaaaaaaaazing! Will tell you lots of stories about it! :))

- Doing the majorty of this trip with a wooden giraffe on the back of my bicycle! :D

- Annapurna trek in Nepal (wow!)

- Illegally slept on a remote part of the Chinese Wall after getting on it with the help of drunk Chinese workers! (it's called 'the Great Wall' for a reason, meaning getting on is not easy! :p)

- Actually I also slept illegally in the gardens of the Summer Palace in Beijing, also great fun! :)

- Swimming alone in open sea next to a 11 metre whaleshark!! (Honduras)

- Getting hit by a bus in Vietnam and waking up in a local Vietnamese hospital where they only spoke Vietnamese, without ID and pretty fucked up (auw!)

- Standing on a rock in the opening of a Guatamalan bat-cave with all 500.000 bats flying out in a few minutes around sunset

- My first day in Iran! I entered Iran the day the war began in Afghanistan (which I only found out after entering the country). The Iranian people are amazing! Most hospitable people I ever met! No joke! :)

- But probably best of all: the complete feeling of freedom when backpacking the globe! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Is there something I can teach you? Maybe...

Is there something you can teach me? For sure!

So let's meet and find out what the maybe might be and what the for sure surely is... :D
