About Me

CURRENT MISSION

A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Andrew and I love to travel the world. I've always been curious to learn about other cultures and to meet new people. Although I'm Swiss and proud of my ethnicity, I define myself as a 'cosmopolitan' in the first place as I feel at home almost everywhere in the world.
I'm a sports enthusiast and a huge fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. I've been playing amateur hockey for quite a while and I also like to do other sports. What matters most to me though is that it's fun.
I'm a fun-loving person, but at the same time I also like to discuss the more serious topics which life has to offer such as politics, history, etc.
With respect to the lighter side of life, I love literature and the cinema..oh and I almost forgot to mention that I'm hooked on music (60s, 70s, indie rock, rap; anything but techno music)

PHILOSOPHY

Don't dream your life, live your dream. Carpe diem!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Intend to host travelers who come to the Zurich area and show them around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only good experiences! Back in 2008, some friends of mine (two of whom were members of couchsurfing) and I went to San Diego for a weekend and stayed two nights with an Indian American guy. We were seven people and could sleep on his balcony. Great guy, showed us the city and introduced us to the San Diego nightlife. Awesome experience! A month ago, I used couchsurfing in Switzerland and it was great.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: my favorite band are the doors, but my list of bands/great singer/songwriters I like is too long to write it down
Movies: like movies with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence and many others; or by genre: thrillers, action movies, comedies, drama etc.
books: long list: e.g. I love American short stories, John Updike's Rabbit Tetralogy, Sherlock Holmes series by AC Doyle, Fitzgerald, Hemingway; Robert Frost, Malory etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

e.g. Bodyboarding down the sand dunes on Ninety Mile Beach in New Zealand, gone all the way to Cape Reinga, canoeing in New Zealand, exploring the terrific Sonora Desert, skating on our local frozen lake in winter, sailing in Holland just to name a few

Teach, Learn, Share

As a language teacher, I'm happy to share my knowledge of German and English. For those who are interested in acquiring some knowledge of Swiss German, I'd be glad to help out. I can cook Italian food and some other dishes.
I like to do creative things and I'm eager to participate in creative workshops.
