About Me

I love nature. And books and words. I like to go places with my feet -also known as "walking". I like hot chocolate and chai tea.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've loved mostly all the experiences I've had through Couchsurfing. I have mostly hosted, but I'd love to surf more. I have met so many different people, and it has allowed me to see the world through other eyes -and hopefully to help other people see what I see through mine!

Interests

Reading like a madwoman. Writing on a moving train. Fighting against social injustice. Nature, mountains, wild animals, rivers. Healthy life, local food. Cats, dogs. People. Anthropology; languages and culture. Different kinds of laughter. Movies and blankets. Board games. Spontaneous photographs. Road trips, train trips and all sorts of trips. And, uhm, is chocolate an interest? :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Ryszard Kapuscinski is my go-to writer. But also Barbara Kingsolver, Sylvia Plath, Eduardo Galeano, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Naomi Klein. I have really enjoyed The Snow Leopard, The Hobbit, The Catcher in the Rye, Alice in Wonderland, Out of Africa, One Hundred Years of Solitude and a long, long etcetera.

I love driving mainly for the music: Sixto Rodriguez, The Beatles, Alabama Shakes, Tracy Chapman, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, Queen, Johnny Cash, Tina Dico. Good old rock and roll. Classic music. Folk music from anywhere around the globe, from Scottish to Bahamian to Portuguese to French to Danish to Indian to Argentinian music. Anything from the 20s to the 90s.

I believe movies are best enjoyed under a blanket. I have especially loved: Pride, Boyhood, anything by the Ghibli Studio, Dead Poets Society, Singing in the Rain, anything by Ken Loach. I seem to have a thing for all the TV sketches by Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry, their brilliant, absurd humour cracks me up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I believe in the small things, so many things are "incredible" to me: having dinner under the stars in a secluded Romanian village, taking pictures of cats in Sarajevo, drinking hot chocolate with a friend in my favourite cafeteria in Barcelona, walking dogs from the local shelter. Anything can be incredible, really.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you a master class about how to give a great concert in the shower, I am an expert when it comes to that! I can share an afternoon of playing board games, my favourite places, cookies and chocolate; you name it!

I'd say I love learning. All kinds of things from all sorts of people. Languages, culture, nature, cooking, weird facts; anything! All is welcome: the mind is the biggest notepad in the world, really.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Smiles, thoughts, book recommendations, long walks, chats about travel, laughter... and chocolate? :)
