About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Personal spiritual growth and assisting others in finding joy.

ABOUT ME

Seeking spiritual growth in the penultimate location, where it all began; at Mum and Dad's.

PHILOSOPHY

Update April 2018: It seems clear that the human is composed of a predominately physical aspect with the hint of immortality. A focus on the former is leading inexorably towards a mass extinction event. Connecting with the latter could save humanity as well as life on Earth as we know it. The mind has proved invaluable for survival but once secure, it needs to be conditioned into subservience to the needs of the soul.

To my mind, life as a nomadic hunter-gatherer is the ultimate in sustainability. The agricultural revolution was the first step on the technological path that has led inexorably to this point in society, and will lead us on into the future. I believe we have a choice regarding the position alone the path we wish to live in. Anyone choosing to live as a nomadic hunter=gatherer should be allowed to do so without hindrance or demand. Living further along the path should lead to greater and greater (financial) penalties in the form of an environmental tax. These funds would be used to secure expances of land to be set aside for nature as well as any humans wishing to live or experience the hunter-gathering lifestyle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I confess a distaste of travelling for no reason other than to see places or people. I'd rather travel for a specific purpose and in environmentally friendly a manner as possible. People are generally the same across time as well as space, although these are broad generalisations; always dangerous...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hosted much more than surfed. The rich experiences have convinced me of the possibility of learning about other cultures ans places from visitors rather than concrete visits. Having said that, I have an artistic friend who claims travel is important for the changing light conditions one can experience; something I can confirm from cycling though Sweden and Finland.

Interests

Growing and preserving fruit and vegetables, serving people, spiritual development, nature; simple things...

  • yoga
  • meditation
  • gardening
  • healthy living
  • chanting

Music, Movies, and Books

Enjoy a variety of literature and am constantly amazed by the creativity of fiction authors and look to adopt ideas from factual pieces where they fit into my understanding of our existance. I tend to enjoy watching films of novels. The last film I went see was The Hobbit (Battle of the Five Armies).

Most reading now done on the internet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My dad walking across a river along a pipe in Africa, a huge snake in India, my school team playing at Lansdown Road in Dublin, holding my screaming daughter and watching as she stopped screaming, opened her eyes and looked at me when I spoke to her, cycling from Land's End to John o'Groats, cycling 11,050 km across Europe from Porto to within 15 km of the Artic Circle and then Odessa.

Teach, Learn, Share

My life has been a journey of personal development. (Possibly) the final stage will involve gaining deeper levels of self-actualisation through deeper meditation.

Significant stages of spiritual growth being achieved with the parents as well as the beginnings of significant service to others.

What I Can Share with Hosts
