About Me

So who am I?? good question!!
I suppose I am many things, but foremost I am a socialist, an athlete, a nature enthusiast, an explorer and I thrive to be a carying and decent person to be around.

I lived a few years in Switzerland (PhD) and the US (work), but since 2014 I am back in my home country. I've got a busy job in geo-information consultancy. I like sports, nature, photography, music, art, history and politics.

I like to think about myself that I am an open-minded free spirit who has not lost his sense of decency (yet). A polite rebel, although maybe a bit nerdy/geeky, and people have called me 'weird'. Although I think they meant it in a good way. ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been couchsurfing for almost 6 years now. I'd like to contribute by offering travellers a place to stay for the night, and by meeting all sorts of great people at CS events and on the road. I love the concept of helping out people without involving money. It purifies the soul.

Having experienced the Couchsurfing way of life in many countries on two continents, CS-ing has changed my life quite a bit, especially my view of people. I've met many awesome, kind, and cheerful people from around the world. It has been an amazing experience so far and hope to continue for many more years ;)

Here are the numbers.
Days (nights) of surfing: 20+ (lost count)
Days (nights) of hosting: 80-90 (lost count)
CS-events: around 60

That said ,I noticed that couchsurfing is getting more and more popular with people who don't really get couchsurfing. For me it is about connecting with fellow human beings and sharing stories/ideas/customs. Couchsurfing is not a free version of AirBnB. To filter out the people who don't get Couchsurfing, I apply a filter to all the couchrequest I receive. Only couchrequests or messages that mention my cats name are considered. P.S. if I consider your couchrequest there is very little chance I won't accept to host you. I love meeting people, and I have a lot of space in my house.

Interests

In my spare time I enjoy meeting people and hanging out with friends, explore nature, or done some sports like running, cycling, rock climbing, basketbal, soccer, baseball. I also like going to art museums, catching a movie in the theater, and of course traveling.
