About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making connections - between people, places, things.

ABOUT ME

Youngest in my family, I'm 'the quiet one', been told I'm much more likely to ask how you're doing than to launch into a description of myself. I actually love talking to people and learning from them, and as my confidence in myself and my place in the world grows, I'll try to impart whatever knowledge I have to whoever wants to listen.
I'm basically easygoing, perhaps a little more reserved than most, but please don't mistake it for aloofness. I drink and swear to varying degrees depending on company; I watch sports, particularly soccer and cricket; I love movies and music.
Bill & Ted said "be cool to each other", so that's what I try to do.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm in many ways very traditional - seeking politeness, honesty, keeping one's word etc (both from myself and others). Still, we all continue to evolve in our own ways; for me, that means accepting into our hearts what positive things we find on our travels, and rejecting those things already within us that hold us back. I live for that feeling when you know you've made a lasting connection with somebody, and the lifelong rewards that come with it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, argh I'll try and keep it civil - 2001: A Space Odyssey, Adaptation., Amadeus, Lost In Translation, Once Upon A Time In The West, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Read My Lips, Grizzly Man, Stroszek, Nashville, Come and See, Nobody Knows, Half Nelson, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, There Will Be Blood, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?
Music - Radiohead, TV on the Radio, (Head in the TV), Girl Talk, Orbital, Pixies, Burial, Junior Boys, M.I.A., Daft Punk, Kings of Leon, Danger Mouse
Books - Nineteen Eighty-Four, The Beach, A Clockwork Orange, Animal Farm, High Fidelity, The Insult, Never Let Me Go, the Ender series, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Man's Search for Meaning, Midnight's Children, The Inheritance of Loss

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Daft Punk live at Makuhari Messe was pretty incredible, but I'd have to say that shooting the night scenes for our Western up at Castle Basin in the Southern Alps was like nothing I've experienced before or since. Snowcapped mountains all around, illuminated by a full moon... I'll never forget it.
I used to be able to walk into my back garden in Varkala, pluck a ripe pineapple, then take it inside and eat it. Simple, natural pleasures like that really linger in the mind.

Teach, Learn, Share

Writing is slowly becoming my vocation, and I'm always happy to offer any advice, though I'm still learning all the time myself.
Otherwise, movies have been my passion for a long time; if you want to know how Herzog would film it or if Archie Leach really was that dapper, I'm your man. Practically speaking, I have very little production experience but I'd love to help with filming anything and learning however I can through that.

Countries I’ve Visited

Countries I’ve Lived In
