ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm currently living and working in Missoula, Montana (which in not, in fact, the middle of nowhere!) Very excited to have moved to my partner's hometown to be closer to family. We're very excited about intergenerational living, culture shifting, standing up for what's right, relating to one another authentically, eating (and growing) good food, making our house a lovely place to host people, and more than anything being in relationship with the people and planet around us. I'm interested in ancestry.

I don't know how to put it some plainly, but I just love people. I strive to balance deep acceptance and love with all whom I meet, while also recognizing that oppression (racism, colonialism, capitalism, classism, sexism, etc) also exists. I put relationships first, AND I believe in honest, deep, and sometimes challenging dialogue. That is part of the gift of being in relationship with one another - we get to challenge AND love on each other :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just love the open-minded people who show up here (minus the creeps.) I tend to travel in a way where I accept things as they come, meet people along the way, and often don't have a plan. Somehow, staying with (or hosting) folks from couchsurfing makes me feel just as free as if I were completely on my own. It's radically different from hotels and AirBnBs... it feels more like an exchange of personality, honoring the gift of one another's presence, and also just recognizing that sometimes people need a place to lay their head, and it doesn't need to be highly relational or complex - just a helping hand. I think what is healthiest in a Couchsurfing relationship is to be honest about what you're looking for. Not everyone always has time to hang out/show someone around. Like all other relationships, communication is key ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I Couchsurfed a lot in my travels through Mexico in 2016 (maybe 2017.) Also, on a cross-continental bike trip I went on in the summer of 2013, and while traveling abroad in Europe in 2011 (my introduction to CS!)

In the summer of 2013, I rode a bicycle from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska in an effort to raise hope, knowledge, and charity for cancer research. Every day brought new and amazing people. I saw love and generosity condensed.

I love to learn. I am always excited to become more aware and familiar with cultures and traditions that are different from my own. Every one of us has knowledge, experience, and insight to offer - all it requires is a open mind.
